Buying Diamonds at tournament's

We had older lady drop cube of Chalk down one of Pockets by foot of table.

Never could retrieve. Couple of days later the table was recovered. Told guy do work about missing Chalk, he fished with hook.

No luck, had it been Diamond Chalk would been on floor after going in pocket.

Thank goodness key fob was not dropped into Diamond Pocket.

ProAms have access doors to remove stuff like this. Table guy must have been blind or had no clue what he was doing. Your hatred of Diamonds is beyond lame.

My last community purchased 4 9' ProAms from a local tournament. They overpaid for "used/not brand new tables" however they got them now not months from now. The tables PRC were in excellent condition and still are years later. Nothing negative about them. Nothing at all.

Glenn,

I asked this question in another thread, but would value your expertise if you have a second. In your professional opinion, if 9 footers and 7 ft diamonds are not an option, Is there a better option out there for a serious league/ local tourney dead money player, with no grand illusions of ever getting much over a 600 FR, than a well set up Valley 93"? Thanks in advance.

Yes, the Diamond 8ft, just like playing on any 7 or 9ft Diamond, and won't lose its resale value like all other pool tables do, unless money is the obstacle.

Money is a consideration, but wouldn't be the final say. Room size will not allow for anything other than 7 foot. I am just wondering if there are any better options in a 7 footer than a valley with pro cut pockets. ( again, I concede they will never be as good as a diamond, nor will they play like a diamond with the difference in the shelf and other factors.)

Would the valley be in solid 2nd place for 7 foot offerings?

Just one guy's opinion, but a clean Valley/Dynamo 7' barbox with Penguin or Ridgeback rails with tightened (4.25-4.5") pockets & nice cloth - makes for an outstanding table, and great bang-for-buck value. Good luck!

They really do make a good table. The pro cut 4 1/4" are really great tables with Simonis 860HR. They are a bit more noisy but they play very well with penguin rails. My buddy has one and it is a joy to play on.

I find it interesting that all the Valley tables you guys talk about are 7ft where the Valley tables here are 8ft.

Where are you at? I'm in Iowa, it's 7' everywhere around here. I've only saw one 8' in all my years here.

New Brunswick, Canada. All the bar boxes I've seen here are 8ft. I've only ever seen one 7ft table and it wasn't a bar box and it was in the children's wing of a hospital.

I wondered if you were north of me, it seems like Minnesota also has quite a few 8'.

I don't really know of many if any places local that still have coin opp tables. Most places that have tables are pay by the hour halls which are generally Dooley's franchises and have 9ft Palason brand tables.

Most of the Valleys I see are in places like local Legions or someone's basement or garage or small campground or golf course club house and they all have the ball return door removed so they are free play.
