yesterday,i ran into CJ at the pool room.i thanked him for a tip that he had given me last time he was there

i asked about the way he holds his hand on thecue and explained i did not know what he was talking about, would he actually put my hand in the position and let me feel the release etc

he did,but this led to about an hour clinic, with one player after another stepping up and cj showed one shot or rather application of the aiming techmique with toi after another

i have played this game over 50 years and this is the first time that anyone has offered such inside infotmation

the thing that strikes me as funny,is the cool reception that some of the az people are giving cj for posting in this thread

sure he is selling some dvds but who cares, the videos are helpful and so cheap in price,he is giving them away

i suggest you guys quit quibbling and be thankful for the opportunity
that you have been given

based on what i saw yesterday, you need to get the videos and study them to get the benefit,it was like speaking in greek to each person there until the ideas sunk in

it will take practice study and work to improve your game to cj's level with the information contained in the lessons

but without the information, practice and work,it will never happen for most of us

after yesterdays session, seeing how much cj wanted to help everyone,i was hoping to urge you guys to act with grateful kindness and welcome the opportunity that you have been given

I have to agree. It's not too often that someone of his caliber will show you something extremely useful. When you reach a certain level those little things are just as huge as when you learned how to apply draw when you first started playing.

Either soak in the information like a sponge, or blow it off. That of course is up to you, but there is no need to harp on someone that is offering help.

Even if whatever it is (not just talking about CJ here) does not work for you, that in itself is a lesson. A very large part of learning what works is discovering what doesn't work.

That was a very well stated post. I agree. You either like his ideas or you don't. There's no reason to sharpshoot everything he has to say. There is a difference between a discussion and argument.

Amen! Good live-action report. Hopefully, folks will quit looking a gift horse in the mouth. You don't have to try it out, but let's not run off the only top pro to really offer "a trade secret"!

I like CJ, I like his attitude, and I like the idea he is presenting.

Two thoughts on TOI:

1) TOI is psychologically effective, because it forces the player, by default, to become aware of delivering the cue ball on a squit/swerve path. Even if the cue tip ends up not going where you think, the process of predicting the path on every shot forms a good habit and promotes peace-of-mind. The brain quickly picks up on this extra dimension more often, and uses it to help find solutions. I use contact-point-to-contact-point aiming (not CJ's aiming) to fall back on, and still see the value.

2) The spin transferred to the OB from the CB actually does help the OB fall. I am curious to know the max revolutions/diamond that the CB and impart on the OB, and the change in angle the OB takes off of the back shim. Dr Dave, still have that slo-mo camera?

Tap, Tap, Tap.

Took my game up a notch. There is no better compliment. I have been using it for a while and it is not a placebo effect. Its real.

Thanks CJ.

Took me about a week to get used to it. I have a table at home that I hit balls on pretty regularly, and normally to warm up and practice by myself, I just throw all the balls on the table, give myself ball in hand, and try to run out in rotation. I have only done it twice in 25 years, and not that it couldn't be coincidence, I did it yesterday for the first time in about 7 years. Hope to continue. I have taken the "throw the ball with spin" (outside) forever, but have transitioned to TOI since reading his post. Thanks CJ!

I agree fully with the OP.

I have both of CJ's DVD and also bought the TOI PPV. If you haven't bought the PPV or ordered the CD you don't know what your missing.

The information is very well explained and demonstrated.

I cant remember the last time I got help from a pro player for the small price of purchase.

I have well over a hundred hours of TOI practice time based on CJ's writings.
It wasn't until I bought the TOI PPV and watched it three times that the light finally came on.

Its very hard to put this technique in writing. I know I couldn't do it.

Right now I'm teaching myself to just use the off center axis of the QB for position play. Being an old time spinner, its taking some time.

On March 1st I'll post my progress using TOI.

Thanks CJ

no doubt, you have an all time great on a mostly amatuer message board. do you think ken griffey jr gets on message boards and gives tips on how to hit a curve?

plus, CJ isn't just selling his DVD, he is engaging in conversations with almost everyone that posts on here regarding him or his TOI. i have also emailed him and he has responded very quickly with great enthusiasm.

if you don't like it, that's fine, don't read it. for the other 99% of us, thanks and keep it coming CJ.

GREAT POST !!!!!
If anyone ever ? the value of TOI set up a 1/2 ball cut into a side pocket-
shoot that shot 10 times with centerball-10x with outside-10x with TOI
If the light doesn't come on - it probably NEVER will.

I have to agree with the OP. CJ is genuine with his intent to help people learn to play OUR GAME better!

The professionalism he has shown while under fire is second to none! I don't know how many times I have been pissed off FOR him and yet he would come back with something reasonable and professional.

tap tap tap!!

Ken

p.s. Last night was my first night with TOI and can be seen on my stream. Not for those with a weak constitution...be warned :P

Hey John, Perhaps you can try out all of your new learned things on me! And at the same time I will be using my CJ specials on you! What did I just say! I am awake now John. I must have been dreaming.

I agree. CJ has handled himself well & with good intention.

His TOI, 'hammer'' wrist action & tennis type grip are all viable techniques that one can utilize to possibly improve one's game. They are not the norm but they are the ways of a Champion.

Tap tap tap

I got to the table the first time last night after watching the TOI PPV twice and parts of it more than that.

Let me tell you I had to exercise some serious self control because two attractive women were playing on the table next to me. I COULD NOT HIT A SHOT using TOI system. The problem being that I was thinking too much and being very mechanical. After an hour of embarrassing the hell out myself and fighting the urge to just go back to spinning the cueball etc, I relaxed and just started letting my natural ability and experience take over but still using the TOI system.

All of a sudden it clicked and I was pocketing balls like crazy. After about 15 minutes of that, I pretty much got into dead stroke shooting all shots with TOI. I was making everything, short shots, long shots, cuts from all angles and even bank shots which really surprised me since I have alway used different spins on banks. I think I missed like 2 or 3 balls in an hour.

That being said, I still have a long way to go but I really like shooting this way. I did notice the girls watching me shoot so I felt somewhat vindicated after watching them shake their head as I was missing alot of easy shots at first.

TOI has been working really well for me also. I have bought the DVD and was wondering if any one else has orderdered and recived their copy? Just wanting to get a time frame of when I can expect to receive my copy and het the rest of the story as one man once said. Thanks
