c player playing in dcc banks

Hi all,

Chance has it that I can attend for two days, the 23rd and 24th, to play the tournament. I am not too good and will be a severe underdog to many players.
Couple questions I have if anyone could answer it would be appreciated.

What percentage of players would you say are c players in the bank tourney?

I noticed the practice time for 9-Ball Bank players 5 pm-12 am on the 23rd. I was wondering how that worked. Is there enough tables for a lowly c player to practice on or do they fill up with top players and action?

Also if anyone has any nuggets they want to share that would be good too.:thumbup:

I was talking to a guy the other day and he said 2 things to remember are know if the bank goes and pay attention to the cueball. 2 solid pieces of info for me as I know I tend to sometimes shoot a ball that I know, in the back of my mind, pretty much doesn't go, and I scratch too often.

Honestly, C player trying to place in Banks ... Hit every shot as aggressively as you can. Go for everything. You will not win a safety battle. Just toss your nuts out, imo.
 
That's what I like to hear. That is how I play anyhow.:D

In the next 2 weeks I can put in a lot of practice. Anything obvious I should be practicing. I'm thinking the spot shot with the cue in the jaws down table?
 
More players in the banks tournament usually. Which results in more weaker players, and which means a better chance of cashing for you, as long as you play decent and have a good draw.

Like someone already said, just be aggressive. There are two groups of strong bank pool players. Those that play bank pool well, and those that bank well. I'd say, the latter far outweighs the former.
 
Banks on a diamond is very tough. Even good b & a players bank and play safe at the same time. I've played twice and didnt see any 3-5 ball runs except from the top players. Diamonds bank short. If you can't pratice on a tight diamond, it wont help much. My advice is to pratice and play shooting banks at pocket speed! Offence and defence together.
As for pratice at DCC, you will have to get on a table with 3-5 players. Only the 'big names' get their own table. And as far as gamblin, good luck! Nobodys dont get a table until 1-3 am....unless you want to lose to a 'Big Name' player...lol.

As far as practice goes I have never had a problem getting a table at the horseshoe. Most of the tables upstairs are open in the mornings before the tournament rounds start. Never had a problem at night either after that days tournament rounds end.

1 to 1 1/2 %.

1 to 1.5% is right. I'm a C player, and I didbt see a single player in 3 yrs of dcc/tunica that I could beat gambling.

My goal there every year I went was to win one single game in banks or one hole. I did really well and actually beat a better player one match, and in 2 other matches I played two pro players and either won a game off them or went hill hill in a game with them. This was split between one hole and banks.

Another thing you have going for you is no one knows you. I remember the banks match I won I fired in a few straight backs the first game and the guy thought I could play. He had no idea. Lol. So your opponents will think you can play. Use that as an edge and don't let them think otherwise by your demeanor or emotions.

Set a reasonable goal for yourself. Cashing is 1000% impossible. There is no such thing as a good draw, as probably 90% of the players there are A players. By the second round, all the strong B's are pretty much gone, and like we said, C's don't even enter rarely.

One year I played all 3 events. I hated the 9 ball, felt like a waste of money. The banks and one pocket I felt like I was at least there at the table. But the 9 ball I drew an A player in the first round and I was just his rack boy. When you are matching up with someone you get weight as a C to give yourself a chance. In a format like this it's not fun to just rack, and when you do get a shot miss after one or two balls and then rack again. In contrast the banks and one pocket you are engaged in because the nature of those games is multiple innings each game. 9 ball is a 1 inning game. In my experience that was demoralizing, and more expensive. I won't play 9 ball again there.

Anyway if you want action from a fellow C look me up:) I'll be there for the banks this year.
 
You guys all missed the point. The answer is: it doesn't matter. Play anyways, even if you're an F player as long as you plan to stay and watch the whole DCC. It's cheaper to play in the banks and get a player pass than to pay spectator fees all week.

So, enjoy yourself and play. Who cares how you play, you're not cashing regardless.

If you want to play just play! It shouldn't matter what your chances are or what others think you should do. It definately Sounds like a good time and something you'll remember, if I had the time to make the trek there I would play too
 
Thanks for the responses guys. I am just going for the experience but I do want to give it my best. I get to practice on a 9' diamond here in town and feel pretty comfortable on it. I play a local guy that has cashed pretty deep in the banks 5-3 and do ok if I'm playing at/near the top of my game.

Playing in the banks as one poster said you usually get multiple trips to the table which is the reason I chose that game. I will be taking a bunch of pictures and share them when I get back.
