What is the least you have seen someone go for for the most return, doesn't have to be 1st.
$20 to win 1k is a pretty nice one.

My buddy got second at White Diamonds. First calcutta he went for $60. He was still on the winner's side for the second calcutta and went for about $350. Cleared over $10k.

Circa 2013 I went to a big bar box 9-ball tournament on Thanksgiving night at a hotel in Akron. There were around 115 players signed up and the guy who won (Pedro Arrona) bought himself in the Calcutta for only $20. I don't know the payouts but I remember Chris Bartrum bought himself in the first open bid for $800. Maybe that can give you some perspective on the payouts (?).

One time I brought a pool player that was playing very strong from Indy. I wont out him, but I dont think he plays much anymore.

I was living in Cincy at the time and Michaels was having a multi event tournament. I think he went for $10 or $20 in each event. Nobody knew him. I think he won a couple of them and placed high in the 3rd event.

Afterwards, Michael came up to me and said, "I believe you brought a ringer over from Indiana." Michael was a friend of mine until he passed.

I think the payout was $2K-$3K on a investment of less than $50.

Without any sort of hiding skill levels, my son and I won a doubles event with a $60 total buy in that paid $1,100 total. Best I remember doing.

That's a great investment.

I was visiting family in Houston, Texas about 7 years ago and there was a Lonestar Tour event going on that weekend. They had an amateur event followed by an open event. Both fields had mostly the same players with a couple of stronger local players that were allowed to play only in the open event. When my name came up for the calcutta it was crickets in the room, so I asked "what's the least I can pay to buy myself?" Got a pretty good laugh from most of the folks watching. I bought myself for $10 in each event, $20 total. I went on to win the amateur event and finished 2nd in the open event. Between the tournaments and the calcuttas, I made almost $2K. Best return on my tournament money that I can remember.

Many moons ago, I bought myself for $5.00, that's right five bucks, won the event and took home $3800.
I thought it was an OK night.
