Calling all cue makers

Hello all makers. I have a cue that is a simple four point with an Irish linen wrap. I've always wanted it to have decorative rings on either end of the wrap to match the joint collar, and I'd like a leather wrap, cork wrap or maybe even stacked leather. My question is, (and probably a nooby question) would cutting the butt below the wrap to install the rings and stacked leather compromise the feel of this cue? I LOOOOVE the feel and will not do anything to ruin that but would like to dress it up a bit. If it doesn't affect the feel, could I get a ballpark figure of what this would cost to be done. Looking forward to gaining a little knowledge on this subject.

Cutting the cue will definitely change the feel.

The wrap, maybe, maybe not.

Contact Paul Drexler. He can put rings above the wrap. Without cutting the cue.

As can dozens of other cuemakers, including you (if you just think about it for a moment)..

True, but you're gambling on the feel being different, unless those rings are cut pretty thin.

Would really depend on what the trim rings are like, though?

Well, damn. Was hoping cutting just the butt cap off wouldn't change anything. I have a second idea. What if I turned the butt cap down to the same diameter it is under wrap, install rings and stacks from the bottom and then reinstall a cored out butt cap, sort of like a sleeve over the last few inches. Is this idea any better for keeping the feel?

Edit. Nevermind on that idea. The butt is hollow and threaded for weights so turning down may leave too thin of a wall.

What Mr. Wayne was alluding to, as were others, was to have "rings" engraved on the cue
instead of actual rings installed. That would likely have no noticeable effect on the
"hit" of the cue. It would however, require a refinish and rewrap, which will add
200-ish dollars to the job.

Also, cnc-ing some virtual rings won't be cheap.
