Calling out APA players at Derby City

Trusty Rusty

I like your style we will have to shoot some time im in Peoria all the time last time i was in daves I came down with M.hammeral the Owner of Billiards on Main in Galesburg and J.bowman to watch B.Mcgrath play this young gun from i believe th SC NC area he came down with 2 women pros Rachel Abink was one little cocky guy but good Bobby ate him alive . I agree when the Quad city or Central IL teams go to vegas they imediatly put us on a hot list like we are alll masters i went down a few years back with Jesse Bowmans team u want to talk about being on a hot list i understand Bowman is Hands down the best bar box player there but man. All though i will have to say some of the strongest league play does come around this area. U missed a big bar box tourney last weekend it was a blast do u know anyone in the Galesburg area?

little john

COULD NOT AGREE MORE . What league can a strong apa 6 or 7 player play in where he plays safeties on a apa 3 and drops to a 5 because they say he did not run out fast enough what a crock im not going to say my team does not do the same but i do agree u could have used all the sanbags in the apa league around here to help the flooding of Katrina.

I'm actually surprised he's a 5.

I may be wrong, but in Birmingham being a 5 doesn't mean much. I just want to get better. There is a big jump from 6 to 7 here, I don't know about everywhere else.

I lost to a 7 in 9 ball getting the 6 and the break.

I think that you need to get your weight up then. When someone asks me for a spot, I reply "Spot...that's a name for a dog". I only play heads up and I do not ask for weight myself. Dont get me wrong, if someone offers it up front...I will take it!

Then you don't play many champions, do you? This is why I am trying to play a game with an evenly matched opponent. Again, I get alot of weight when I play champions. If I lose, I shot bad ... oh well, it was a fair game. If I win, I shot good ... "Oh you trapped me! You shoot to good!" B.S. whatever. As George mentioned above, I lose with tremendous weight, and occasionally I win with tremendous weight.

I just want an even game to try to get better. Break, ball-in-hand, and the last six may win me money sometimes, but it doesn't help me get better.

I went up to the last tourney (Nov. 10th) in G-burg. Bobby wasn't there to play, he had a good number of adult beverages before the tourney, and kept 'em up non-stop while there...LOL Don (neckel) from Peoria went thru the winner's side, then ended up getting 2nd. I wasn't there the whole day, but if you were there between say 8-12ish, my buddy and I were on the box just to the right when you come in the front door. The owner came over while we were playing (just when I lucked into a break and run) and asked why we didn't enter....ha ha, I just laughed, and said, "Cuz I suck!". He remembered me from when I bought a Joss off of him...good guy. I'll drop you a PM the next time I'm up that way....fel free to do the same if you happen to swing thru P-town. :D

I can honestly say when I quit playing APA I was rated a 5.

I don't know how I could play you but if you needed a little weight I may be able to give up a little. I ain't a champ but I will bet a little with you. I don't know you but I'm sure George could point you out to me.

I am an APA 5 and would like some similar competition.

I can provide proof of my skill level, and would expect the same in return.

PM if interested.

This thread is becoming like a Desperate Housewives episode.

This guy is looking for action, is providing a decent gage of his speed (and had it confirmed by another poster) yet people are talking about anything but matching up with him, for the most part.

:p

Unless I go bust while I'm there, I'd be glad to. I shouldn't be too hard to find ... I'll be the guy looking to get the most weight in the room (because I need it), or you can ask George to point me out. PM me how you and he would play.

You will not find a nicer guy to play cheap practice sets with. K-Town is a good guy. As a matter of fact I believe a bunch of us are planning a ring game with 5 on the 5 and 5 on the nine.

All an APA 5 is, is a smart APA 6 or 7. Handicaps are made to be manipulated. Louisville has gotten a reputation as being a bunch of sandbaggers, but every region has a differen't interpretation on how to keep the scores. It all boils down to innings per game, and from what I understand "D's" cross out innings so not marking "D's" over a long stretch in my opinion could majorly effect you skill level. When we go to Indy/Vegas tourneys, alot of Lou. people get bumped. Apparently Cincy has the same problem, we saw a 3 from Cincy break & run 2 racks in the APA 3 man last year. You tell me what's going on...

Yeah, I smile real big as I am handing over the cash don't I Kev. :o

You know I am always willing to make a donation in a ring game. I won't be there until the 9th but I will look you up when I get there.

Time frame

Well Ktown, I guess that rules out us playing anyway. I will be there the first weekend only. One of my best friends is getting married on the 12th. What kind of idiot gets married during Derby?
