Calling the 10

macneilb:

Unfortunately, some folks just can't let go of Texas Express rules (it's that old, "you'll pry my T.E. rules from my cold, dead fingers" thing), but they want to get into this new, hip thing called "10-ball." Sounds cool -- "and the balls are played in rotation, so that automatically means Texas Express, right?" :thud:

Or, we can start adding balls to the rack, Texas Express one-upmanship style:

I personally just don't get it... Call all the shots so nothing can get slopped in, or don't call any of them and wherever it goes is where is goes. Calling just the last one doesn't make sense to me, why should you be able to slop in every ball until the last one? Then again, it could just be me

i think you should call all shots.

Ditto....just like BCA 8 ball rules, if it's not obvious call it. Even the in the bars with non players, they like no slop. No one likes the long drive and then the beat by pure luck, it happens too often.
It cost me big one time, final 8 in Reno/big table, winners side, I was up 10-8 player cut a ball down rail at speed, it caught the interfering ball and the ball did a 3 rail billiard in the corner and I lost on the hill, made me sick.
I also liked the Seminole event jump cue rule, ea player is allowed two jumps per match.
