passion, and drama are to fuel the ipt, and nothing will be more passionate than the question raised here, can allison fisher win the king of the hill tournament? my answer is YES, what is yours? i believe her talent is as good if not better than all of the rest, males included, and her closing skills are BETTER!! than the rest, males included, when allison smells victory, she's like a great white shark, hungry, whose in the presence of a little 5 year old girl bleeding! let's discuss. gremlin come in, please.

She doesn't stand a chance. I'm sure she'll get past a few rounds, but if she comes up against a big name she is toast.

Watching her play on TV, she seems to play as good or better than most of the men I've seen. The TV won't intimidate her and the men will be under added pressure playing her because they won't want to lose.

I think that she will do fairly well against all the competitors including the males but what I think is her main weakness is her break. The majority of the time Ive seen her on tv she comes out dry. I havent really seen her do to many break and runs on tv matches. She is definately going to be a force to deal with. I personally have my money on the international players mainly the filipino and taiwanese contingency. They always have high finishes in most competitions. On the other hand Im always routing for the home team but they just havent been as strong lately

It took Allison a number of tries against the women to win her first WPBA 9-ball event. Do you honestly think that even if she has all this blood thirsty killer talent that is somehow superior to the men, that a transition to 8-ball is a walk in the park? I don't see that conclusion, but that's why we all get to share our opinions.

No alternating break = no chance to win she may go a few rounds but when someone runs a 6 pack she's all done if you can't get to the table it's tough to play

I would love to see all the ladies do well. Buty with that said, Allison and all the rest do look great (plat sorry no joke meant), but you haven't seen them play the men. It's like night and day at the high end.

The good A players (not pro but A players) run 4 and efen 6 packs in compition (if all things are working), but the pros (via Accu-stats tapes), it;s nothing to see them run 2-3 racks mutltable times in one game.

I watch the women on tv, and (before they changed to alternet break format) you never see them run 3 packs (and if they did they would be airring that because it would be breat for the tour). They can break and run out, and some have the skill to run big packs, but I don't think I've ever seen it on ESPN.

I do hope they do well and prove that there is no reason why they shouldn't compete at the Pro level. But I don't see it happenning.

As much as I respect Alison... If her break is too weak for a pack of 9 balls, what is it going to be like when she's trying to move 15 balls. I don't see it happening. Accu-stats has an interesting set of tapes of an invitational 8-ball tournament they had. Generally it was either a break & run or a break & watch. It didn't go beyond an inning very often. As good as she is she can't compete with that.
JMHO.

She wont even be the highest woman finisher...how can you expect her to win the tournament when she wont even get past all the women

She's been playing 9b tournaments for 10 years now and has won 90% of all her matches. I just don't know why people can't appreciate that kind of talent. I'm not going to say with any certainty that she's going to do this or that because any of us here that play pool quite a bit knows that the best players don't always win. Sometimes the Pool Gods have something else in mind but I will say that she is loaded with talent and I think she will do damn good, especially against the other women.

I doubt Allison will reach the last 16 of any event. Main reason is that I suspect she has played little 8-ball.

.................................NO....................................
unless the ipt's selective criteria for membership has brought in some clinkers. i was told you're a member, bernie. so chalk at least one up for allison:)

Her break will be her demise as well as a very rigid stroke on very slow nap cloth, she will struggle getting the cueball to move and playing breakouts.

She will get beat by the top men players. It's no big secret, the top women pro players aren't as strong as the top men pro players. Do you have any idea how strong the top men pro players are? It's great that the women pro's are competing against the men, I hope they do well.

I'd like to think that since they dont get many chances to make history like this, they women will perform well because it means that much more to them. I think it'd be great for the sport.

Allison may dominate on the WPBA but the IPT will be a little different. She might have some high finishes but as soon as she runs into Efren, Johnny, Thorsten, etc it will be lights out.

What, like three tries or something? Since then she has been the most dominating player the WPBA has ever seen. I don't think she is "superior" to the men. I do think that she is on par with them. The problem, as I have reiterated a zillion times, is that mass makes class. The fact that there are thousands of men who play world class speed and just dozens of women is why it will be tough for the women to consistently be at the very top of the IPT. I think it will be tough for a lot of players to be there. But, I think that Allison, Karen, and Kelly will surprise us. Don't be surprised when Monica and Gerda and Sarah Ellerby do well as well.

:-))

i've read your responses, and i'm glad that the passion is stirring. but, let me make myself clear. i said ALLISON FISHER, not how the women will do.
now what do i mean by this? what i mean is allison fisher is 100% completely separate from every woman professional pool player. no one comes close to her greatness and consistancy. to sum up, please keep in mind allison fisher is allison fisher. therefore, male heads will roll. :)

At the present time, Allison and Karen may have a shot. Monica, Gerda, and Sarah Ellerby will not get the job done playing against the top men pro players. No offense to the women players, just my personal opinon.
