Can Archer make a difference?

Both Earl and Matchroom

Do you mean he is done with Matchroom or Matchroom is done with him?

I don't have any specific info, but I suspect they don't want Earl "The Burl" to ever participate in The Mosconi Cup ever again. People say "Earl sells", but I don't think Matchroom thinks Earl sells, at least not in their market anyway.

they love Earl- Barry Hearn said if they had 100 Earl's they would start a tour-
Earl has said that Barry stated that they wish they had 100 of him so they could start a tour.
But there is nothing that can be done when respect goes by the wayside....
you'll see in the documentary "Raising the Hustler"

don't worry-

Cool idea, but it's already tough enough for USA. How about diluting the teams by doing it strictly by country...

USA
Germany
Holland
Taiwan
Philippines...

Oh wait, we're still screwed.

Seriously, pool is not at it's peak in the USA, but we can still field a good enough team to beat the Europeans. Experience counts a lot, as does maturity, mental toughness and team chemistry. I agree with the earlier statement that Earl "the Burl" will implode in the Mosconi Cup, as he has done before. Further, he is a detriment to any kind of team concept. He is the Tyrell Owens of pool. In spite of all the talent, a team is better off without him. And I'm not sure that Matchroom would ever allow him in. It wouldn't surprise me if they have a standing rule, "No Earl ever again, ever".

My team would be...

Archer
SVB
Hatch
Morris
Putnam

I put in Putnam instead of Dechaine because, besides being higher in the rankings right now, Dechaine on the same team as Hatch might be bad for team chemistry (from what I think I know).

Believe me, if Matchroom Sports had a choice between Earl and an emotionless robot with tin cups, they're going to choose Earl. He sells tickets. The emotionless robot with tin cups doesn't hold the interest for the TV viewing audience as much as somebody like Earl would, IMHO.

As usual Jam, you are a font of infinite wisdom. Despite all of his warts, Earl remains the biggest draw in professional pool.

Don't mean to be a wet blanket guys but its still points that get you on the team. Even Matchroom's "choices" are based on points.
Top 2 are automatic, Shane w/367.5 points and Mike Dechaine w/342. The others are chosen by points and "who knows?". The standings are #3 Dennis, #4 Brandon Schuff, #5 Stevie. Rodney is 6th. JA is way down in 11th and Earl and Hunter are tied in 13th. The US open will be the last chance to change their positions. Personally I'm an Earl fan but my choice is Stevie Moore!!

During the last Mosconi cup that was held at York Hall, the stores ran out of the supply of Alcohol very early and as a result the crowd went bonkers ( withdrawls).

Yeah I'm not surprised in the least. Its not uncommon for an englishman to have 20 or more pints in one outing!!! Those boys over there can drinkkkkkk!!!!
