Hey guys !!!
Hope someone can help with this 1; "Is there any chance of applying clear coat on top of the linen wrap ?", If yes, how and with wath ?
Just trying to make a cheap cue to give-me the feeling of a wrapless,(not trying to imitate the Meucy With all due respect...)
OPINIONS, OPINIONS ,Please !

Shoot Bob Meucci a email. Seems he is hurting for money bad enough that if you was to trow him $20 he would probably tell you his "secrets".

Buy a cheap spray clearcoat can at Home Depot.
Tape the forearm and the buttsleeve with blue tape so they don't get sprayed.
Whale at it.
Spi and sand with 600 grit paper. Spray again if needed.

Do you have a lathe or a way to spin the cue?

If you do, tape the forearm and the butt at the ends of the wrap.

Then sand the wrap area with 400 grit sand paper until smooth. This will even out the wrap and prepare it for the next step.

Spin the cue slow and apply Super Glue to the wrap area, use a doubled paper towel to smooth out the Super Glue, then hit the wrap while spinning with accelerator to harden it fast, due this after every coat of Super Glue.

Apply three coats and sand until smooth, if the wrap is completely sealed polish it out, if not apply additional coats of Super Glue and accelerator.

Hope this helps

For a quality job just send it to Bob and let him do it.
Then call him in a couple years to check if its ready...or if they even can find it. Honest.

You've got to fill in the low spots, between the strings. Use white glue (ELMERS, which drys clear). Build up several layers, til it's smooth. Then you can sand it & apply a clear spray...JER

If you have a lathe to spin the cue you can also use a brush to apply the clear to the wrap. You can build it up faster this way.
After it has dried sand flush and spray the whole cue like normal.
Some wraps will change color or fade ( maybe bleed is a better word) when they get wet from the finish.

yep ,thats funny got a budie waiting 3 years on a gambler shaft he sent in lol . They said there in no record of it lol I guess they do this to every one .

Ok ok, pun aside, I am also interested in this. I don't like the sound of the elmers glue thing, as I'm sure it works, but I'd like to find a much faster approach, I know how elmers glue can look white underneath if you don't give a huge amount of time to dry. I think I will try heavy starch, spray paint sealer, and maybe some other type of scoth guard treatments, all followed by epoxy and finishes. I'll let you guys know as well my findings on these quick drying methods once I know.

Bob Meucci is the one who told me about the Elmers Glue. Since it came from him, I assumed that's the way he does it...JER

Thanks & appreciation! ! !

I have to thank all the good,(And the not so good OPINIONS) here; unfortunately I didin't have time to get the answers prior to the project, but my IDEA matched w/ JoeInCali's reply; thanks buddy !

A long afternoon gave me time to finish the job, I did wrap some areas for protection, and start applying extremally thin CLEAR COATS, one after another one, with about 15-20 min's. apart;
Well it worked great, @ least for my spectances, like I said before, It is a cheap J/B Lucasi, but now the feeling of the grip is just more than perfect for breaking. - Patience + time are the answers for the quality, BUT I DID'NT HAD NONE, regardless so far anybody that saw it and touched it, greatly approved and REMARKED -*(Did you do it yourselff ?, Really ?, Wow it came up nice !!!); so I'm particulary proud of myself, being just a average "Joe Somebody ..." :p
Thanks very much, regardless, Yall very COOL...
