Can I make it?

I'll take the 2-ball ghost over most players in a race to 10, providing they break full speed and don't get ball in hand after the break.

Why does anyone have to break full speed in any game? That's like saying I'll take the 5 ball ghost against any pro on the planet, providing they have to use their jump cue for the entire set.

It's not like that at all. With two balls the breaker could just herd the balls over and over. A full speed break would ensure randomness.

And you think any decent pool player that actually knows how to play the game just goes out and smashes the rack as hard as he can, with no concept of having a shot on the next ball? 8-ball - sure. Smash away. If you make something, you'll usually have 13 balls to choose from. Watch good 9/10 ball players. They break with the intent of having a shot on the 1.

I like my chances against the 2 ball ghost with the break. But I am not going to haul off and just smash the rack. You don't lose against the ghost if you don't pocket a ball on the break. You lose if you miss after the break. So I would most likely just bump the balls toward the bottom two pockets, and leave whitey somewhere in the same area. I may lose the first rack or so figuring out the break, but once I had it, it's a practice drill.

There's no rule in pool stating that you need to break the balls at full speed.

he made up that rule purposely to make it more difficult, thus he would bet on the ghost against most players IF those were the rules of the bet..

The 2 ball ghost is a cheap weasel and a nit , don't be like him.

That's because the two-ball ghost has fallen on hard times...
...have a little sympathy for someone who gets beat a lot.

He's probably playing on nerve now...so put the money on the lightshade.

The ghost must post

Obvious troll because no beginner knows what the ghost is :-)

Just tried it.. 1st try, 10-6 over the ghost.. I'd hold on to your money.

I might add, this is on s triple shimmed GC III, Granito, with superspeed

Ghost

If the ghost had 3 balls some might consider him a troll, but it's not a prerequisite .

Keep beating them balls and start playing guys that are better for cash.

Take a lesson to ensure fundamentals are correct.

Ignore all replys to your post.

Good luck

Hey, this post at least motivated me to give the ghost a try. I think that I'm going to try to play the ghost daily from now on. I'm an 8-ball player and rarely play 9-ball, but this was quite entertaining. I haven't played leagues for over a year now.

I will admit it. I choked against the ghost. In fact, as the "match" progressed, it started to feel like playing in an actual league or tournament match.

I played a race to 9 on a 9-foot table with 4 1/2 inch pockets. We traded games back and forth the whole way. When we both got to 7 games, I choked on the next two games. Missed an 8-ball that I normally would make and then on the final game, I missed the 7-ball on a medium length shot and not too severe of a cut.

I was actually mad and frustrated, but at least I have a new goal to be able to beat the ghost in a race to 9 regularly....(and "no", I won't be posting any videos...) :D

EDIT: I should add. I realized near the middle of the "match" that the break is critical. A couple of games that I lost, I didn't focus hard on my break and didn't hit it solid, which resulted in clusters and a very fast loss.
