Too soon huh.
Maybe down the road somewhere !
It's only been illegal for 80+ years.
And that seems to be a farce to many now.
I know cancer patients want to try the oil before chemo and radiation !
Maybe my point is too hard to imagine for many yet.
A couple years ago when my dad was dying of bladder cancer, they wanted to try one more cycle of high-dose chemo. The doctor was worried that he would be too sick to eat, and wasting away from malnutrition is a leading cause of actual death during cancer.
The doc prescribed Emend for the nausea, but Dad's insurance wouldn't cover the cost. At the time it was something like $300 a pill! Disgusting, considering it may be a life saver for many cancer patients because it can help them survive the treatment that may possibly cure them. All of us kids just agreed to pay out of pocket for it, he was our dad after all. Luckily for us, he was a vet and he was able to get it for free from the VA (after a lot of pressure).
He never got nauseous from the chemo (although his kidneys did shut down, and that put him in the hospital), but the cost out of pocket would not have been doable for a non-veteran without means or family to support them. Since then I've been doing a lot of reading about cannabis and chemo. Turns out most folks respond much better to the natural herb than they do to the man-made drug.
Why do they take the Emend instead? On most chemo forums I've looked at, the main reasons were either fear (shades of "Reefer Madness"?) or unavailability. As one woman put it on a search I just did:
"Great if you can get it! At my age, trying to locate marijuana without winding up in jail is a daunting task! I know I considered it when I remember how well it handled nausea during the flu in my younger wilder days!"
So, Big Pharma makes out like a bandit selling a drug for megabucks that does only one thing: help with nausea. OTOH a simple herb you can grow on your front porch does a better job at handling the nausea, while also aiding appetite, relieving pain and anxiety, and providing a nice uplift in your mood in what may well be your last days on the planet.
