to me the difference between someone asking "where can I find such and such a part to build my cue" and there are numerous replies stating "I make/sale such and such part, contact me".........and someone having some extra sticks of wood that would benefit someone else more so they START a thread announcing "I have wood to sale, contact me".

What is the difference between the two end results here?

Because one ASKED first to be sold something it is OK?

I'm a little confused.........need help.

I would like serious replies only please and no I'm not trying to pick a spat.
What I am doing though, is pointing out the serious need for a section that would be inclusive of all of these types of threads.
 
Good point Dave. I never saw anything wrong with posting cuemaker relevant items on ask the cuemaker. It worked just fine for years as long as individuals didn't bump their stuff daily. The section seems to be cycling down to the third world and cue part beggars!

Isn't that what we're doing? "Asking the cuemakers?" Isn't that the title of this section "ASK THE CUEMAKER"?

How is it different if one asks how to put a part in a cue?...compared to....
Would you like to have that part too put in the cue?
 
That is a great point. I would think I can find that at the section of Cue Machinery I am a buyer also from time to time. But I see posting all over the place like Wanted/for sale section, Cue Machinery, Ask Cue Maker and Cue Gallery. I think there should be a section for this kind of sale. Maybe " Cue Machinery/ Cue building supplies"? Or post in Wanted/for sale section, I would think that's cue parts/supplies related? Just my 2 cents.. M

If memory serves, this all shook out from 'reforms' instituted due to
people "bashing" cuemakers who gave answers to legitimate questions.
Sorta a bashing ban was put in place.

I assume<and we all know what that can bring>the idea was, if this
undesireable situation is to be addressed, let's make a few more much
needed changes while we're at it - things like publicly naming sources,
cost of items and/or services and so on.

If I understand the policy - you can offer items for sale in either
the Machinery or Wanted/For Sale section and post a link here.

I don't know, I would still like to see one section Private for cue makers and repair people where you have to be one or the other to get in. Just the opinion of an old saw dust sniffer.

Dale....You bring up an excellent point and I now feel that I am not the only one that "assumed" it shook out as being able to post cue related parts in the machinery FS section as this would be the MOST logical place to reach people that may have a need for these items. I was openly told by a moderator that if I was not selling machinery, I could not post my offerings in that section.
I will continue to campaign for a sub-section in a section already used as a FS section in the cuemakers section. This just seems to be the easiest fix to a problem that is not really a problem....except to a few in the minority.
Once again........I am even willing to pay for the IT work to get this situation rectified so we can move forward. We're not talking Obamacare here. It's a friggin section heading amendment.
