Just a thought.

I really dont like these posts for this reason.

Someone posts a cue and all these nits come on and say, "Wow, thats worth at least $2,000." So then the guy gets it in his head that it is worth $2K, and it may be or may not be. But the guys who are making these "guesses" at value have no idea, if they did they would make an offer.

For best estimation, look for other similar makers cues on either ebay or here on AZ, or just call and talk with a dealer.

Sorry for the rant, but these guys who say what it is worth, usually dont have 2 nickels to rub together and just pass bad information.

I totally agree with you on this one Ken. A person on here who I think is pretty knowledgable has contacted me and gave me what his opinion is on this particular cue. This is nothing fansy...just a basic 4 point Joss West with sideways W. I have sent an email to Bill Stroud also..so should hear back from him in a cpl days.

Hopefully another AZ member on here that lives in Tulsa doesnt beat me to them

Yes Nits certainly come in all shapes and sizes don't they Ken>;)

Well besides the brand name, the type of joint, construction of the points, the color of the veneers, the wood type, and the number of shafts are all variables in the price of the cue.

Post a pic or some description.

I have a nice stash of 70's Joss cues. I bring them out every now and then, to let the locals ogle. There is always an expert in the crowd, telling me how much they are worth. I then offer them a thousand off and it is hem haw city. Nobody has stepped up to the pump for like 20 years.

I field questions like this all day long at my work, where people are commonly selling items that at this point have more sentimental value than perceived real value.

I always tell people (to make them go away, without opening myself to criticism by their hurt feelings) that their gear is like fine artwork, and the value is what someone is willing to pay.

If they insist to go further, I refer them to EBay, and tell them that EBay more or less sets the market for items similar to theirs.

This way, I am not the bearer of bad news, and don't take that punch in the face after telling them their stuff has little to no value to me, and that I wouldn't want it for free, in most cases.
