Well, that figures. I just last week deleted all your PMs regarding this shaft because I hadn't heard from you in a month. Now I'm guessing that I'm the 'crazi' price you're referring to. OK, let's try this again.

Std. 1pc. maple shaft, $100.
Predator 314-2 shaft, $210.
Predator Z-2 shaft, $225.

All the above with matching ring-work & McD. QR shaft insert and built from 'brand new' partial.
I also have a 30 1/2" Predator 314-1 that has a small sugar line at the joint. It's currently built to match an AE cue w/Radial pin. I would change the ring-work to match your McD. & install the McD. QR insert, one time only, $195 shipped.

If these prices don't agree with your budget then you might try running a post in the FS/WTB section.

If these prices include you making matching ringwork than i would say it's a great price. I will be surprised if the OP can get a better deal.

Spicy huh... You ever try going to Taco bell and saying you will give them 0.15$ for a taco. You get what you pay for.
Not to try and sound like an a$$ but everyone wants something for nothing. If you miss the cue you will pony up and buy a shaft with matching ring work. You have a day by the time it is all said and done with in making the ring billet. KJ that is a hell of a price. I wouldn't touch it for that. Keep up the good work...

Thanx for the support guys. I didn't come here to take advantage of any one. I just want to be paid a fair price for my work. It's the same with my cues. There is no built-in profit margin, again, I just want to be paid a fair price for my work.

I build Predator shafts for these McDs. maybe 2-3 times a week so I have plenty of ring-work and inserts. What should be noted here is that just the insert is $12.

Apparently, he doesn't care about brand-new so I suggested that he post in the FS/WTB section. Hopefully, he'll find something. Good Luck, KJ

Call McDermott and tell them you need a new shaft for your cue. I'm sure they can sell you one to match. I'll also bet they will charge you more then KJ quoted you.

shaft price

$100.00 for a shaft with that much work is an incredible deal. I definitely cannot touch that price. I'm sure that KJ also does not pawn off any shaft grade. If you went to the manufacturer, do you know what you are getting? Will they replace it if you are not happy? My guess is that a competent repair man will get it right the first time. What is that worth? I once told someone that I could sell them a shaft for $40.00, but they wouldn't like it. I was just trying to be honest. I go through about 20 shafts to get the ones that I put on my custom cues, and I'm sure you don't want the last choice. KJ, a very fair price for timely work, Good luck

Price is too cheap. I can't understand how anybody could charge so little & still make enough to compensate for the work & materials. What baffles me even more is a customer saying it's too expensive. I'd charge $250 for this shaft & it WOULD NOT be one of my select shafts. It would be a shaft I set aside for tenon stock. KJ's prices are low enough that if I needed a replacement shaft for my cue, it would be more convenient for me to get one from him rather than spending the time to build it myself. I'd charge $100 just for making the ringwork.

well i never stated that KJ isn't a nice guy..he is a nice guy overall..he try to help me a few times already..and i do understand..i wasn't trying to be a lowballer and ask him to lower the price down to like 50$ or so..and other thing is i wasn't looking for a stander shaft that's the reason..i was talking about the price... overall i know kj is a good guy and nice guy to do business with...

I am confused then, just get the shaft if you need it, or get a 3rd party one with default rings for less.

I just spend $50 just to get a standard Joss shaft repaired, why complain about lowering the prices. I'd be shocked if he can drop the price by even $10 and still make any money for the work that needs to be done.

Predators with standard rings Start at $190 for the cheapest model.

KJ this is a customer that you do not need. I'm sure he would want his WHOLE pay check on Friday, not just part of it. These are the same guys that you go out of the way to help & then have them bad mouth you. Be thankful, if he goes somewhere else. By the way for the standard Mcdermott shaft (with the black ring & 3/8-10 joint), I charge $100. For a bushing I charge $25. For that ring work, I charge an extra $25. $150 would be my minimum. Keep up the good work...JER

Once or twice (years ago) I questioned a cuemaker and tried to push the envelope a bit and have a cue made for less than a fair price to the cuemaker. It wasn't blatant, but I sure regret it now that I have invested so much money and time into learning cuemaking.

i don't know any cuemaker that charges less than $125 for shafts and that would be cutting off your ole ringwork and re-using it.KJ,tell him to call Stroud for a quote.i hear he is $400+ now.SW is $300.i wouldn't want to know what Barry gets.i would say the national average is $150,again that is using youe own ring off the other shaft.

My shafts start at 115.00 with a LBM ferrule, standard tip and a plain black ring. Fancier rings and uni-loc inserts and better tips cost a little more. I almost always use new rings unless it is a real odd-ball. I use the same shaft blank on someones Sneaky Pete as I would on one of my 2,000.00 cues. The only time I pick out a shaft is when someone is getting 2 so I match the weight, color and grain as close as I can. If you've got proper equipment just how long does it take to make a shaft? I used to make people shafts while they waited with a super glue finish but once I seen how horribly that holds up I now use an auto finish and they can pick up the next day. Most deco-rings are just combinations of a few deco rings and washers. I've got combinations to make thousands of different deco-rings on hand. If one comes up that I don't have I make a tube up that may take an hour and a half or even two hours to make but then that tube is good for 30 or 40 shafts. I, myself, think it is unconsciencable to charge some of the prices I'm hearing for no other reason than they are making a customer pay for the mechanics inefficient use of time from lack of equipment, materials or know how. Just my opinion.
