can someone help me custom a SHAFT to match my cue?

He tried to bargain down a great offer of help.

Do you really think he did not know the price of shafts?

Bargaining is what it should have said. not bartering.

What is your point?

Now, C'mon

Joey,

He plays with a McDermott, and must have thought here on AZB we have a DOLLAR MENU like MickeyD's.

KJ, great price on shafts with matching ringwork. WOW, those are some KRAZI prices - but in a good way!!!

Hey Hypna... Just sell me the cue for $50, and buy that Players sneaky ChrisOnline has posted for $50. You get a cue and shaft in your range, and I will have to pay $100 dollars for a matching shaft from KJ, plus the $50 to you for your cue. Deal?

Bought quite a few Defender MCD cues in the last 2 years, and they are always under $200 - WITH A GOOD SHAFT!!!!

Hey, I want something for nothing too!!!!!

ROAD GOES BOTH WAYS!!!!!

Michael

Wish I needed a shaft:D

Out of all fairness kids....

Don't you think enough is enough ??? the point has been made and he realizes he made a mistake, and NONE OF US are above making mistakes !!!

It seems a few of you just can't resist bashing someone repeatedly after the point has been made !

To my understanding this is NOT a Playground and who are any of you to judge a person's intent when all emotion is removed out of this type of communication ????

The man made a mistake... he assumed wrong... BFD !!!

Can we please move on to something constructive here !

It's hands down... WE ALL WANT KJ TO DO THE WORK !

AND WE ARE ALL AWARE THAT THE INQUIREE MADE AN ERROR.. why is it necessary for several people to just keep beating the dead horse ???

FOR GOD SAKE'S LET IT GO..... PLEASE !

We are all adults here "most of us anyways" so is it too much to ask you guys to stop all this ridiculing everytime someone tries to ask or post a serious question or statement ?????

Sincerely, Eddie Wheat

We did let it go even though he really hasn't said he made an error.
Then apparently he PM'd Jer to lowball KJ.
BPG said there was a "misunderstanding".
I questioned that.
GoTulane/Michael being mean, I have no responsibility over that.

Oh, actually too, if you read most of the threads here, being ridiculed in this section is uncommon.

Intent?

Mr. Wheat,

I appreciate your ability to JUDGE my intent, when you have already said that this media is one where emotion is removed. My intent was to give the man another option, since he states that the price is ONLY worth it , if he needed another shaft. KJ took the time to let him know his pricing along with other cuemakers here, and his final statement tends to show HE DOES NOT NEED A SHAFT THAT BADLY!!! So was his question serious? Or just a waste of time for the people here that try to make a living by selling their wares. I won't speak for them, but many of this guy's posts lead to nothing, other than a lot of hot air - JMHO. Therefore, I gave him another way to get what he wanted - straight cue and shaft, and saving money.
Myabe my post was hot air, but only if YOU TRULY KNOW MY INTENT!!!

I buy cues, I sell cues, and I try not to waste other's time or my own, since it is very valuable and expensive. Just another option for Hypna.

I make mistakes all the time - probably responding to this post - but I move on - Who declared you hall monitor - since we are KIDS?

Oh I'm not a hall monitor I speak just as freely as you or anyone else does... the only difference is that I don't go out of my way to jump on the bandwagon and try to be cool !

And even though I quoted you with my retort it was directed at everyone who's guilty but I was using you as an example !!!

No big deal... hey, it's all in good clean fun until someone loses an eye right ???

By all means enjoy yourself but try not to do it at others expense !

And yes I'm aware of some of his posts but does that make him any less creditable ???

Given the mentality and behaivor and quite a few cliques I have seen on here recently... it would make me very leary as well to ask for repair work and then just jump on the first offer, considering the amount of animosity that is shown if someone is tryin to get a deal... especially given the examples of how quite a few cuesmiths and cuemakers won't dare hurt their image by doing a favor once in while....

You know sometimes swallowing a little pride and helping someone out who can't afford to spend the "going rate" isn't a bad thing, and as a matter of fact KJ so proudly displayed that and showed that kindness can go a long way, even when the potential customer is unaware of the competitions prices or mabey he was... so what !

This thread has gotten way out of hand... and trust me ! I KNOW ALL ABOUT THAT !!!!

So I wasn't picking on you ok... just trying to make a valid point, the same as you did but without the sarcasm.....

And Michael... when your opening line is loaded with sarcasm.. The intent is pretty obvious and did not warrant a judgment, it's a given !

Mr. Wheat,
Swallowing pride and helping people out IS a good thing, but the less than going rate was still NOT GOOD ENOUGH for him!! Because after all of the comments from other cuemakers, he still tries to bargain the price down. And then he states he would only buy the shaft "if he really needed it" - HIS WORDS.
I understand getting a good deal, and working out deals with people here on AZB, but wasting people's time is just that -A WASTE!!
I thought since he wanted something cheap - then I would give it to him - With his attitude - THAT WAS THE BARGAIN FOR HIM. Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers, but sometimes you gotta call someone out for dishonesty. That is how I roll. I am not part of any CLIQUE, other than the AZB community CLIQUE - we are here to help each other out - but when somebody takes advantage of another member - we draw the line.
Credibility? Yeah, ALL of one's posts on this non-emotional media reveal what type of person you are to a point, and I will stand by my SARCASM - It is what the poster deserved for the time taken by many to help him out.
You have your right to disagree, as do I. But I hope we both agree that wasting people's time on stuff you do not need is truly ridiculous - HE WAS NOT A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER, BUT SOMEBODY TRYING TO GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.

Made my peace, and hope you can understand that people who are potential customers deserve respect, while people who are just running their mouth deserve SARCASM.
The cuemakers here all provided helpful insight and respect for a potential customer - too bad Hypna wasn't that person. The time a cuemaker can spend with his family, work at his job, build cues, and sleep directly correlates to the amount of time one answers questions from people who don't truly care to know the answer - or do not like the answer they are given. Just trying to increase the cuemaker's time involved in the more important facets of life.

But I did learn one thing -

KJ is the man for a shaft when I need one - pricing is very nice.

I agree with you on those aspects and also share the same interest in helping others as well, even if it seems futile I still feel compelled to hold up my end of the inquiry, but I do see your point and it is well made !

KJ I got a solution here. Raise your price to 150$ on this shaft and tell them you will give em a deal at 125. they feel like they got a deal and you get paid. Take it easy man..

its sad but thats how things have to be done. i dont post high to sell low. i write my price and say "FIRM" and "NO TRADES" yet i still get low ball and trade offers. i dont understand

my prices are not up for negotiation they sell or they dont. i never understood why some cuemakers are complete jerkoffs but now i do. people will talk you ear off for hours with no intention of spending any money. i think my prices are below market also.

There's nothing wrong with putting pride aside & helping somebody. In fact, pride should not even be part of it. It's the most human thing to do, helping somebody. That's why we are the top of the food chain. That's why we cuemakers, most of us, stand by one another.

KJ builds that shaft, sells it for the price the guy wants to spend, then heaven forbid the shaft warps or tip pops off or there's a slight misfit or something. Most cuemakers I know hold a high degree of standards but sometimes the customer has higher standards, and most generally it tends to be the hagglers & flippers & low-ballers. It's the guys who take their burger back at McDonalds because they forgot pickles, and it took almost the entire burger before they realized & they want another one or a refund. So even if KJ builds the shaft at a tremendous bargain, luck & sociology 101 dictates that the guy is going to pluck it to death like a duck & demand a refund or for KJ to bring it up to his expectations. Even if it's something the rest of us would consider a fantastic deal, a cheapo will *****. Worse yet he comes on to a public forum trashing KJ for shady actions.

I'm not at all saying Hypno is this kind of guy. I don't know him & cannot even pretend to know he is like that. However, in my experiences, doing the human nature way of helping people, especially pool players, is knotting your own noose. Everything comes with a price. If you drop your price to help out, then the rest of the payment will come out of your ass. It sucks but it's the way things happen. I have bent over backwards to "help" guys with deals or giving a little extra or working my ass off to get it done a little sooner. Well, those guys either ***** & moan anyway or flip the cue in a couple of days for a multi-hundred dollar profit. It's a slap in my face. That's what happens to people who try to be the good guy.

You know, I try to be optimistic and as genuine as I can be and always willing to go the extra mile and never allow 1 bad customer ruin it for the rest... but unfortunately, what you just said is the cold hard truth !!!

I look back at the "perks" I have given so many customers over the years and mabey 10% at most, truly appreciated it and accepted it exactly for what it was.... the other 90% viewed it as a desperation move to gain business or to show "necessity" or weakness and felt they acquirted an angle over you with future work and everytime they have come back they "expect" that bargain or some sort of special discount !!!

But the ones who really floor me the most and you fellow cuesmiths can appreciate this one..... are the desperate customers who absolutely have to have the repair done yesterday and will talk you into dropping everything your doing to address it and then want to pay you next week for the emergency repair !!!

And better yet....the same scenario and then they don't pick the repaired cue up for atleast two weeks but yet they had to have it done yesterday !!!

In my 18 yrs. of repairing and building cues I have come to one solid conclusion...... THE MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING !

Sincerely, Eddie Wheat

To all who have posted and to those who are thinking of posting, I think it's time that we let this go. I do appreciate the support and I also believe that the O.P. now has a better realization of what a new shaft for his McD. cue is going to cost. I don't feel that I was bashed by him or anyone else and I hold no hard feelings toward him. I offered my best price and it's his choice whether to accept or not. I do suspect that it's a simple matter of shallow pockets and who of us hasn't been there?

To Hypnauticz, I'm going to suggest that you take your search over to the FS/WTB section and make your request there. That section is a super-market of shafts & cues and I'm sure that eventually what you're looking for will come up, hopefully, at a price that suits you. There are two things that you should be mindful of. That ring-work comes with silver rings and some with gold rings. Also McD. does not have a standard diameter at the joint for those cues, although lately I've been seeing them more regularly at .840". I don't know that I'd be too pickey. Good Luck with your search and if I can be of further assistance, let me know. KJ
