can someone please show pics

That's why I "quoted" it, as a general statement.

Whatever Kevin, read into it what you want, I had a honest question and you jumped to the defensive.
Keep shooting down potential buyers, I'm sure its good for business.
When you are ready to show some "fancier" work, post up some pictures, I'm sure more then myself would be interested in seeing them.:)

I was interested in seeing them but Kevin's attitude has definitely led me to believe that he is not worth dealing with. I asked a simple question. As someone who often buys cues, I was curious as to the source of his materials and the quality of his work. He took it as a challenge and an insult and immediately jumped to the defensive.

I have seen a couple of nice Varney sneaky pete's on this site and my request to see fancier cues was also met with animosity. So be it. I'm glad you have so many customers Kevin because that way you won't have to worry about squeezing me into your schedule. Any interest i may have had is far gone now.

I don't have to read anything into it...it was clear you were taking a cheap shot at me by implying that my cues were just "converted house cues". Buying a full splice blank and turning it into a cue is not a converted house cue. But yes I have in the past converted a few house cues...to some they'd rather have that than to pay extra for a cue made from a blank. Tim Scruggs has done it for years.

Its pretty clear to me that you and pharaoh have been trying to bait me for most of this thread. It easy to see who is interested in buying a cue...and who simply wants to bash someones business practice or start a fight.
And fear not Fartsniffer...picures are coming. Tell you what...I'll start an entire new thread called "Pics of fancier Varney cues".

Now, I have better things to do than continue this thread.

I am surprised that you don't have pictures of your past work, either way I look forward to seeing some fancy work of yours. Will keep my eyes open in the cue gallery section.

I don't know what makes you think I am trying to bait you. I don't even know you. I've never had any direct contact with you. I probably never will. Perhaps I would have had I decided to order a cue from you.

However, I do not buy without researching first. I like to know about a cuemaker, his methods and techniques, his materials, and his style before I give him my money. That is why I posed a simple question or two that were in no way argumentative. I asked with the hopes of gaining more insight into your work. If you took offense to it, then perhaps you need to isolate yourself from people for a while as you seem a bit touchy. I don't know why you react to people the way you do but I do know this: you made a claim earlier in this thread that this is your livelihood and your business. Well, you don't seem to be the best businessman in the world as you haven't been a member of this forum very long and have already pissed off and alienated several people here in a short time.

I've promised the Mods I'll be nice on this forum.

But yes...I make fancier...spend some $$$ and try one.

So, basically you were going to be a Meany to this "customer", if the Mods weren't holding you back?

Seriously, what a turn off.

Sometimes written words have a way of coming across with the wrong intent from the sender, but you really should give the benefit of the doubt, and find out his true intent before going off the deep end.

Once again, you are reading into things that are not there, I have no reason to "bait" you or anyone else on this forum. I am not one who gets my thrills from Internet playground fights.

However I do find it funny that you wrote:

Because I was pointed out a few posts of yours that did just that. At any rate, I hope you customer base is large, because your people skills are lacking. I asked a honest question and you grabbed your guns.

I have to say, as someone who has worked with Kevin, that he is a stand up guy! That being said, I also think he over reacted, perhaps due to the recent drama, to the posts. I can see how he could feel like he was being put down by categorizing all of his cues as "converted house cues", however, there's a thing called diplomacy where he could have stated, in a civil manner, that he uses full splice blanks made by another person. I think (hope) that KV's reactions were a result of the recent drama because, as I said, he is a good guy and great to work with.

Just thought I'd throw in my $.02

There is, SP's and other plain customs are my favorite cues, I just love the plain look and the great hit they give.

Frankly, I think Varney's cues look fantastic, and calling a Custom SP a converted "House stick" is just ignorance.

Thanks for all the emails by the way Varney, I will place and order for something in the next couple months when i get some cash together and pay for the current SP on order with Primo. I'll probably get a maple classic with some ring work from you if thats do-able.

Hey Kev, I can see where you are coming from as I am a person starting getting into collecting Custom SPs and Plain styled cues.

I would be offended if anyone called my Bob Frey Sneaky Pete a converted house stick when it is anything but. Sure it doesnt have any Ivory and didnt cost over 1k, but the hit on it is probably better then some of those customs that people are paying over 1000 bucks for. Anyone who owns a Frey SP will agree with me.

Am I saying its better then a cue like that, NO. Am I saying its worse, NO. What I am saying is that it is it's own style and some people like that, so why degrade it?

Again I'm sorry everyone read into that the wrong way.
I guess if I said "Do you have anything other then a Sneaky" everyone wouldn't have gotten in a uproar.

No need for an apology I dont think, it seems like a gross misunderstanding on all parties. But the above text in quotations would have made things a little more understandable.

Oh, no, you wouldn't have gotten off that easy. If you had said, "Do you have anything other THAN a Sneaky" you probably would have been okay, but since you used the word "then" instead, you were obviously making fun of poor Varney's work and should be punished severely...

I guess it could be called ignorance, but some of the photos looked like converted house cues. Is that an insult???

Plus, many Custom Sneaky Petes are made from house cues. I've got a great looking purpleheart sneaky pete from Sheldon Lebow. It's a converted house cue. Probably a Valley Supreme or similar.

Was this addressed to me? I was, after all, the most recent one to use parenthesis...lol. That being said, according to Mr. Webster I used it correctly:

Main Entry: pa·ren·the·sis
Pronunciation: p&-'ren(t)-th&-s&s
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural pa·ren·the·ses /-"sEz/
Etymology: Late Latin, from Greek, literally, act of inserting, from parentithenai to insert, from para- + en- en- + tithenai to place -- more at DO
1 a : an amplifying or explanatory word, phrase, or sentence inserted in a passage from which it is usually set off by punctuation b : a remark or passage that departs from the theme of a discourse : DIGRESSION
