You shoot well Jason but I would have bet against you all day long against the 9-ball ghost on the table indicated under the rules indicated. Part of the problem with playing the ghost is there is no chance for a safety, if yoiu have a tied up ball on the rail you are "forced" to go for a breakout or a combo or a bank and that forced offense pushes most people into a place they are more apt to miss.

There are "maybe" 5 or so players in the entire of Calgary I would not have bet against on this when I was there. Edwin for sure would beat this, PJ if he is playing, Mike Abou when he is playing, Lloyd A if he practiced for it, maybe Kevin O... I might be missing someone but there are not many more that are truly a favorite against the ghost in 9-ball on a 9-foot diamond for the cash.

Very true. That's why I think the biggest key to beating the ghost is breaking well.

I played the 9ball ghost last night in a few races and didn't win any sets. That's because I was racking with a crappy plastic house rack that didn't freeze the balls, so almost every break left me with at least a cluster that I had to worry about.

Later on I was just throwing 9 balls on the table with no clusters, and getting out most of the time.

If I am in Calgary again, I will get in touch and we can try a bet

So would I. I think we could standardize the rules. Magic Rack or rack of your choice, pattern racking allowed and soft break to start. I think those rules will make the ghost the easiest.

Even more BS than this are the 'packages' threads, where virtually everyone has put a 10 pack together, apparently.

Busty said his high run was 7 racks. The most racks run I have seen gambling was 12, on a barbox. I also seen a sixpack the same night by a different player. Paul Turner has run the most racks on a bar table while gambling that I know of with 15. Johnny playing Busty running 13 is the most I know of on a big table. No C player can beat the ghost on a 9 ft diamond with 4 1/4" or 4 1/2" pockets. I thought the names were being listed on this poll to start with?

I noticed he didn't say what the race is, so, I guess many could beat the ghost 1 game. It should be, can you beat the 9 ball ghost 10 ahead.

That's pretty surprising. Maybe he meant just in tournament play? or possibly in 10 ball? I know plenty of unknown players who have runs of 7 or more, but the runs are generally made in gambling or practice.

I would guess that not many people have runs of 7 or better in tournaments just due to the fact that there aren't a whole lot of tournaments with races to 7 or more.
