Can you believe this crap?

It would be nice to see some pics from all of us. Kind of nice to see how we
all have it during the summer. Come on - show you're favorite fishing spot,
BBQ area or just the summer view from the balcony or something :-)

Keep them coming.

I captured this sunset a few days ago just 2 blocks from my house. A larger version is shown on the "pic of the day" page on my website.

I want more of your shots and more shots from others as well. Beautiful!!

My little personal fishing hole for most of My life, I have many more here on the Inter coastal Waterway, but this one, I don't have to jump in the boat to get to, I only need to walk just outside My door and drop a line. I just now walked outside to snap some pictures, and a couple of Red Bass hit on top of the water as soon as I walked out there, so that's how active It can be at times. I was unable to snap the picture in time to catch them in action, but can still see where they busted the top of the water in this one. I'm really gonna miss living here after we sell and move, but times are tuff, and so we must move on. not the most beautiful place I have ever seen, but It's been home for a long time, and when the sky is filled with colors, much like in Bob's picture It sure has a way of making You appreciate the location. BTW that's the ICW on the outside of that marsh line, and the oldest city bay front is within a half mile to a mile to the right of the picture. We use to watch the fireworks downtown from here, so that's how close It is.

Great colors there Greg and I would have missed a fishing spot like that
if I had it just outside my house. We have been struck by the economy over
here as well where the unemployment figures rise for every month and the
peak is for sure not reached...
Cue building is for sure nothing to earn money on locally but I hope I'm able to
continue as long as possible.
Thanks for the pic.

Thanks Kent, Yes It will be missed for sure, as there is a lot of sentimental value here for me.

The truth is though, the economy is not the only reason for selling, We had both houses sold here right when the interest rates took a dump, and that killed the sale.

Besides both places needing more work then I can do without taking out a mortgage, there's just not enough room for me to build a proper shop. Like You mentioned cue work is not the most profitable job I have ever worked, but If i had a large enough shop I could supplement It with other forms of work as well while I grew that side of things more. The view is where the money is here though, so if we sold both places then We could get a place that would be better suited. My father passed away last month, so now I have even more responsibility then before. The best thing for us now is to just get a place large enough to move both My household and My Mom and brother in with us. That way I only have to worry about maintaining one place as opposed to two places. Both places here are side by side so it would be perfect for someone wanting to build one large house with this view.

The Cue thing was a venture that both My Father and I had taken together, but right now It is taking a backseat to everything else. It has however taken on even more sentimental value with me, and not something I want to give up on either, so I still plan on setting up again after we move. I'm still doing some work, just not taking on as much as I did before. Besides dealing with family grief, and what seems like a constant flu bug I have had, I have added responsibilities that take up most of My time, and the best way to get some relief from that is to move into a better situation that requires less time to maintain. It's just simply the best decision for all concerned. It should be a nice spot for someone to build a really nice home though.

Thank You Chris, He was a big fan of Your success story, and the way You made the best of what you had starting out, so I know It would mean a lot coming from you. He was born in Atlanta, so had Georgia roots, and We often talked about trying to make It up to visit you sometime to meet in person, I'm only sorry we never got the chance.Hope all is going well for your family these days.

He was a much better man then I, and I don't think I ever met anyone that didn't like Him, the response and condolences from people here locally have been quite numerous. Seems just about everyone I run across has heard the news, and most seem to be as upset as if It was a family member of their own.

I remember when Mike Lost His father not so long ago, and thinking to Myself, "man I'm really close with My Dad I can only Imagine what It must be like", Because living next to him for so long he was also My best friend. It definitely seems empty with out him, or like a part of me is missing, but We are trying to move on. Hopefully time will heal some of the wounds like they say.

I'm sorry to hear about you're loss. It sounds like you have been through
some though times. Those things are hard to come over, so hang in there and be strong.
I have lost 3 family members to cancer so I know how it feels.
I try to keep them alive through memories and it helps.

Good luck with the move and hopefully it would work out for the better for you.
Drop some pics up here when you are installed and hopefully able to do cue work again

Wow Frank, that is a stunning picture !!!! What a view....
We have the high mountains as well, but wow I have never made such a
great shot !!!
Keep them coming folks. Great to see for someone sitting over the Arctic circle :-)

I'll drop some pics of our families forrest/Woods when I have the time to get
there and shoot some pics. Would be cutting some cue wood hopefully this year.

Kent

Thanks Kent, but I think you're being modest, your shots are great!

For a little contrast, since I didn't post pics originally and since I'm in the same area as the OP I believe, here's one from in front of my shop....

Thank You Kent, and My condolences to you and your family. My father was a smoker most of his life, so I guess It could have been worse, and cancer could have been what took his life, from talking with friends that have been through what you have, that is a slow and painful way to go. My father had a severe neck ache for about a week, which turned out to be a blocked artery, we tried over and over to get him to go to the hospital, but right when We finally talked him into it he had a massive heart attack right in the doorway while leaving the house. My brother and I tried to give him CPR, and even rescue worked on him for over 20 minutes, but from what the doctors told us, there was no way that would have been enough. They said even with the equipment the ER had that it may have done no good. His brain was deprived of O2 for too long, and we ended up having to make a hard decision, but I suppose at least It was somewhat quicker then a long bout with cancer would have been. I really feel for You having to go through that, and am very sorry to hear of your losses.

Yes I will definitely post some pictures whenever I get a new shop setup. Like I mentioned I had slacked off on work, but still ended up with about 20 cues to work on after league last night, and that's a lot from one night for me, so I'm not completely out of the game.

Anyway, my apologies to everyone for bringing the tone of This thread down, as it was not My original intentions. Some really beautiful pictures you guys have submitted here. Please carry on, I have really enjoyed viewing them.

DO NOT EVER apologies for missing you dad. If it makes just one person understand what a treasure parents are you have done a good thing. A good friend of mine was fighting with his parents over afew hundred dollars once. I told him how I missed my dad and wish I had spent more time with him. He called his dad and made up with him. Two days later my friend was killed in a car crash. Me and his parents are very glad I spoke my mind!

First I'm very sorry to hear the loss of your friend. That was great advice You gave him though, I would give the same advice when It comes to loved ones or even close friends. Even as close as I was with My father, there are still things I wished I would have asked, said, or done while I still had the chance. Unfortunately time does not stand still for us, and the window of opportunity can slam shut at anytime. Life has a way of keeping us busy all the time just to make ends meet, but It can also be much shorter then we would ever expect, and leave us with many regrets.

As far My apology, thanks for saying so, but I would never apologize for missing him to anyone, My only apology, is for airing It out here in this thread as i did not intend to do that.
