OK, I'll admit that this is a bit of a trick question. You would probably have to be from the Dallas area to get all four of these guys because a guy from Dallas time traveled back into the past for this shot.:D

Just thought some of you might have some fun with this one.

You nailed him. This was 1982 and Earl had just won his firt major tournament. It was the 1982 Dayton 9-Ball Open in Dayton, OH.

Buddy was not added to the picture. This was after a tournament where Buddy was the huge favorite, and Earl won. I believe it was his first "big" tournament win. I forget the details, I read an article on it at one point and remember the picture. Buddy wasn't too happy with the result obviously.

Kelly

Edit: I see Bill posted the details just before I made my post...

Kelly, you are correct. Buddy was not "added" to the image. He had just lost to Earl in the final match and as you said, was not too happy at the moment.

i have seen that guy practicing with mike haines on numerous occasions. Dont know his name but from what i have seen he is pretty passionate about pool.

You've got me!

OK, Dave, you got me. The guy who was photoshopped in is a friend of mine in Dallas. He is a real pool nut and got a big kick out of that image when I sent it to him.

Anyone out there know the name of the "inserted" guy?

Heh - There may be some money in this. Can you photoshop me in and print it on a T-shirt?

Bill - you had me fooled. I never would have picked up on this.

Good stuff ! !

Nope, but..

Is it Wade Crane aka Billy Johnson? Sure favors him.
No, it is actually a recent shot of a Dallas guy that I edited into the old image of Joe Kerr, Earl Strickland, and Buddy Hall. The person who got photoshopped out was Joe Burns, the owner of the pool hall (Forest Park Billiards?) where the tournament was held. Here is one of my favorite shots of Wade Crane since you brought up the name.

Well, I am definitely NOT a photoshop pro. Actually just using Photoshop Elements 4.0. But I like to fiddle around with photo editing from time to time. I got kind of burned out on photo editing after editing about 600 images from slides and negatives Mike Haines sent me a couple of years back. But to answer your question, sure I (or anyone who uses photo editing software) could take a photo of you and insert you into an old photo for putting onto a T-shirt. That might be a marketable idea, maybe at DCC.

Another Photo Thread??? Naaah

I enjoy photo ID threads, Bill. So rather than starting another one I thought I would let you guys name some of the circa 1979 guys in this photo from the Greenway in Baton Rouge. Some top players are here other than the named, Buddy Hall.
