TX Hold'm card game changed poker forever, giving average poker players an opportunity/Chance to win against the pros.
Colorado SR9B is a pool game that offers this to the weekend warriors and league players.
Give it a try, pro rules, 9 on the spot. 1/2 day event, no flow chart, every round redraw, winners and losers all begin Same time each round.

4 ball does give a weaker player more chance. but they will still lose to the better players.

as can be found when playing 3 ball in a bar. the best two players take all the money most times.

your game though does make it fun for them, and that helps keeping them coming .

3 ball is completely different, this game the 9 ball is Always movin' on the break.
Like TX Hold'm card, when you see four up cards you know if you've got the best of it, most all the time :).

The wing balls don't go in the corners they bank above the corner pockets and into the kitchen.... the 9 is racked on the spot same as pros, sometimes players never make a ball on the break but not always.
Sometimes the 9 will bank into the upper corner, If you break and are hooked, you can roll out same as the pros do.
If you lose your first two matches, tables open up for play, or you can spend your Day time doing something else.
By six o'clock almost every table that was being used is open for business for anyone.
Everything players dislike about late night play, hotels etc is not in this business model, it's designed for the room owners as well as the players and no hotels needed. Each rack including racking avg three minutes.

.

With a tight rack a decent player should be making the one in the side fairly often. Unless the 4b rack reacts differently than thr 9b

Have you ever played 6 ball? About impossible to make a ball on the break. The different ball numbers all react a bit differently.

I’ve never played it with the balls racked high (like the 9 on the spot break).

You may well be right though. I will play around with the 4b break next time I’m on the table.
