every now and then i browse the for sale section looking for a reasonable priced cue i just cant live without. i think just about every regular poster on here is aware of the whining and complaining that goes on in there about a lot of people do not follow the rules.

tonight upon browsing the for sale section i came upon a thread that is full of hypocrisy. the time line of the thread is listed below.

seller starts ad on 8-24 stating its a tribute cue

seller bumps thread 8-26

poster # 1 bumps 8-26 commenting - cool looking cue

poster # 2 bumps 8-26 commenting - great cue maker

poster # 3 bumps 8-27 commenting - this cue maker makes great players

poster # 4 bumps 8-27 commenting- cant cue maker make his own designs?

poster # 5 bumps 8-27 chastising poster # 4 and quoting rules 6 , 8 , and 9. guess he forgot to quote rule 11 which all of the poster so far have violated.

poster # 6 bumps 8-27 bashing poster # 4

seller bumps 8-30 just to state poster # 4 is banned.

the thread goes on with one more bump on 9-10 that violates rule 11.

you have got 7 posters violating at least 1 rule if not more and it seems like they all continually do it yet some how just 1 poster is banned ? he did not knock the seller...did not knock the cue itself... guess you could say he knocked the cue maker.:D

i went and looked at poster #4's history. i saw no pattern of posts that were bannable offenses.

its just hypocritical as hell in my opinion.

I think you need to re-evaluate your findings, do some more research and edit your post. If you are refering to az member -Partners- he got a well deserved banning. Here's a hint- go back and look at all his b.s. Tad Birdseye cue foresale posts. I know you mean well, but you are out of line and a little late to the party on this one. No hard feelings, just telling it like it is!!!

i dug a lil deeper in his posting history and i see your point.

that still does not excuse certain other posters in that same thread of violating rule # 11 in several other threads according to their posting history.

it is apparent the op complained about partners and got him banned. i did not dig too deep in partners history the 1st time but at 1st i did not think he should be banned for simply asking a question about said cue maker making his own designs vs tributes.

just think its hypocritical for reporting a guy who broke a rule by more or less asking a question and yet you have other posters in that thread who have a pattern of breaking the bumping rule with ..nice cue...great player...wish i had the funds etc...etc.. and nothing is ever done about it.

i guess it would be kinda stupid for the op to report them guys huh ?

I see your point- sorry if I came off the wrong way, you may have missed it but partners bs for sale threads were so annoying- ( I had to put him on the ignore list). I'm not 100 percent sure the thread you are referring to got him banned. There was a thead a few months ago where a member inquired about the bogus tad he made new threads about everyday by simply asking what country would the cue ship from and he cursed them out and was repeatedly a a-hole to everyone who contacted him. I think that may have had something to do with his banning.

i did not take offence to your post at all...we are cool. :grin-square:

for not being sure of what thread i was talking about you sure made a correct assumption of who poster #4 was lol.

after your 1st post i went back and looked deeper into partners posting history. i did not read all of partners post but i did come to the conclusion he was a lil flaky.

i just thought it strange after i saw the op bumping his thread to state partners was banned i went and looked at partners last few posts and saw nothing that was bannable.....in my opinion of course.

There is no rule against OTHER people bumping a thread. Just the op can't bump his own thread in less than 48 hours.

Nowhere does it mention anything about the OP. Replies can be from anyone. If it does not pertain to the actual sale of the cue, then it is bumping. Read the rules.

11) Over-active bumping is not allowed. If most of the replies to your post are bumps that is overactive bumping. Anything more than a single bump in any 48-hour period is over-bumping.

13) All Questions and replies to questions should be done via PM and not in the sales thread. It will be considered a bump to do so. ( Dave Wilson )

I see the same four/five users, going in and posting about the OP's cue that plays lights out, the cuemaker is God, or that the cue is beautiful. The problem is enforcing the rules. I don't blame the moderators, though, it's tough to keep track of the amount of traffic in the W/FS subforum. The same people keep bumping threads, the same people should get a vacation from AzB.

This is a prime example:

It was my thread and if you're not aware of the issues with "partners" then you must of been living under a rock.
Tons of partners posts were deleted.
It took what seems like a minor rules violation to finally get him banned.

I believe the folks that run and monitor AZ have given up policing the WFS section unless it gets so ugly they have to ban someone. I do not think bumping will become a banning issue just an annoyance to folks that try to follow the rules that were established a while ago.

Actually the moderators have started watching things closer and deleting threads.
Hard to believe I know, but I think they must of realized the value the wanted / for sale brings, and they don't want to see it's demise.
Everybody I know came to AZ initially to buy, sell, and show off custom cues, everything else is along for the ride.

It is impossible to stop other members from bumping. Edit: unless a thread is closed upon creation through the software.

The bumping rule applies only to the op or possibly to a concerted campaign by a group. However determining that a prearranged bumping club is nefariously causing excessive bumps will also be next to impossible I think due to the probable nonexistence of one.

If posters can be punished for "nice case" bumps then I can just hire some people to insure that every case ad other than ours is bumped to deletion.

Sure there are a few bumps on Ted's thread, but the majority of the threads in the wanted for sale section get bumped by viewers..

If you look closely Ted has 1 bump at 2 days.
The rest of the his bumps are beyond 2 days.. It appears Ted needs to bump more often..

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Partners was banned because he was Barkcinnamon..

It is impossible to stop other members from bumping.

There are two solutions to this:

1. Change the "Sorted By" Default Option from "Last Post Time" to "Thread Start Time"
- Only the newest thread will be at the top and the older threads will be pushed to the back.

2. Change W/FS thread format to only allow the OP to post and bump.
- Vbulletin has defaults to only allow a person to bump after X number of hours.
- The rule states that questions and replies should be communicated via PM anyway.

I frequent other forums, that pertain to things other than pool, with these formats. They work very well.

The bumping rule applies only to the op or possibly to a concerted campaign by a group.

How you interpret the rule means nothing to me. The rule says "all questions and replies," it does not mention the OP or another user. It would be silly for the OP to be asking questions, no wouldn't it?

You never know, I have a lot of cues, anything could happen.
For instance I have a cue for sale right now that at least 4-AZ members know more
about than I do.

While we're on the subject of bumping......I'm surprised that nobody
comments on the guys who have to bump their thread one last time, just to
announce "the cue is sold".
The considerate thing to do is just edit your original post and mark it sold.
I have friends that do it and I never realized how stupid they were until they made the
final "cue is sold" bump.

And then the other casemakers will start bumping your ad excessively and get your ads cancelled. Dont do it John, save your money. I love AZ, the womens soap operas have nothing on us. Wheres my popcorn. bumpity bump bump
