Can't get the film off the Magic Ball Rack

I just got it in the mail today. I've tried the tape like on their website. I've tried hot water, fingernails and the tip of a knife. I finally got a sliver to come up after a half hour of work and before I could even pull 2-3mm of this film off it tore a little bit.

Maybe I got one where the film baked on the MR, but still wouldn't they make a tail on the MR films so you could get it off a little easier?

That's about all I can do because I can't get this stinking film off. I guess I now have a brand new Magic Rack with a small tear in it.

*edit* Sure wish I wasn't so stubborn. Maybe I would have given up before wrecking it.

Dont try

Just play with it on, slick side down. I got the stuff off once and after all the pain it didnt play any diff from the one I couldnt get the film off

If it's the new version (black rather than clear) my understanding is there is no protective film to remove.

The ones with film have a greenish tint - you have that one? I had no problem with hot tap water loosening mine up.

This one is either clear with a black film, our back with a clear film. Can't tell because I can't get it off.

I tried heavy packing tape as well as scotch tape.

If this one doesn't have a film I will be a little irked because the instructions said it did meaning I tore it trying a fruitless task.

I believe I remember reading something about a failure to change the instructions when they stopped putting the film on. I hope it works out and you didn't just destroy a brand new rack. Would seem like a major screwup by the manufacturers.

I may be wrong also. Hope I am.

Lol wonderful. Maybe that is why it seemed baked on....it's because it was. I emailed them about it so maybe they will replace it.

Looks like you missed post #7 where it is stated that the black ones do not have a protective film. No wonder it was so darn stubborn.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. This is a common and confusing issue. I worked on my Black Magic Rack for a while and gave up. Glad I did.

The next question is, which side up? I'm assuming the shiny side that looks like it has a film on it.

Edited to add: This rack is great.

It sounds like you have the new version because the old one was not black at all - clear film and clear rack.

It's pretty humorous when you think about it, but believe me gunzby, I'm laughing with you and not at you. I have the old version that came with the protective film and it was almost as hard to get it off the rack as the the new one without the film.

Lol
Get at least I stopped trying :)

At least I finally have some proof that I don't need to follow instructions anymore. I'll see how that goes over with the lady of the house.

I have a set of black ones that have a blue film on both sides. The set included 2 10 ball racks and one 8 ball rack. It's very noticeable with the film being blue.
