Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

Profile hit performance based on shaft and tip, its yin and yang. A duality of math laws.

This is whole thread exclusive to the banning of CF shafts has left out tips.

You do know why pool cues have tips installed on them? Or is it just a standard fact without any understanding?
You go right ahead and put a concave tip on your cue. Post a video.

No, its all scientific analysis and homemade content.
It's nuts, that's what it is. A concave tip would only make good contact (disregarding compression) at center ball. If we factor in the compression, contact surfaces are still not optimal for anything but center. You just don't understand how a tip works, I know I blocked you for a reason. When you hit a draw shot, for instance, only the top part of the tip makes contact, how would that work with your tip setup? Only the smalles sliver of the tip would make contact making a miscue almost inevitable. See, you need a certain surface area covered with chalk to get good friction and avoid miscues. The thin sliver you would have, wouldn't retain enough chalk most of the time to generate spin, or even avoiding a miscue. Most likely it would buckle and get broken really fast as well. Back to ignore with you.

Julia Roberts was hot in Pretty Woman. It's not all in the face - she has great charisma - but I like her face too.

If you think her face looks like a horse's face, I don't trust you around horses.

Some of the elitist attitudes here remind me of that clerk who was mean to Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, and then Julia comes back to the store with thousands of dollars worth of clothes, and rubs the clerk's nose in it.

It's especially dumb to be so mean and snobby if you happen to sell cues or other billiards equipment, aside from the ordinary drawbacks of being a toxic a$$hole.

I posted a while back a custom cue shaft and tip constructed from heavy weight paper.

The hit profile for a hollow cue tip has advantages over the concave and convex tips.

I am proposing players should have specially adapted cue tips for specific shots.

The jump cue for jump shots. Then there are concave shots and convex shots and hollow tip shots. Each requiring specialized equipment for maximum performance.

you are dealing with a mentally challenged individual.

I don't know why so many people here need to go straight to insults. He might be wrong, but why does venturing an unconventional opinion draw such nastiness? You're just going to make him hate you - what's the point of such insults, except to be a bully?

Why not say "He's not understanding x, y, and z," instead of immediately insulting him? Maybe he'd change his mind and end up agreeing with you, if you didn't immediately resort to bullying.

Stick around, you'll see. It's common knowledge around here that Justnum isn't quite right but he sticks around and we tolerate him ;)

A cue tip designed for center ball shots is how beginners should start. Even if its on a carbon fiber shaft.

Great players can adjust to, and play great with, ANY shaft. Period. But, they will have preferences. If you like plain maple shafts because of "whatever" reason, enjoy. CF or LD absolutely 100% DO make "some" aspects of execution EASIER for a lower level/beginner player, and by that same measure, "great" players. You can draw/follow/spin your rock easier. Many will argue that point, but that is my position. You can learn to use more "extreme" english easier with LD/CF shafts. The thing is, I think you need to pick a shaft and really learn the cue ball using that given shaft. All shafts are slightly to majorly different. And if you're a beginner you need to learn center ball, meaning center axis first and foremost.

Y'all are a tough crowd, but that's actually kind of a nice thing to say, so I'll give you credit for that. :)

Is anyone here "quite right"? I haven't seen much evidence of that, and I know I'm not. :P

Trust me, you'll figure it out regarding justnum, go search a few of the posts he has started and it will come to light fairly quickly ;)

That guys ability to miss the point of ideas and lack of knowledge about pool is only matched by his stubbornness to learn and be oblivious to seeing digs made at him. If AZB was a biker gang, he would show up with a 150cc moped wearing a suit. Basically, picture Pee Wee and it's about the right idea.

It's all so dang complicated. I recently switched from an 11.8mm top-of-the-line, high tech, low deflection shaft to a 1950ish Brunswick Master Stroke. The Brunswick probably hurts my performance, and it has a huge taper roll, and the butt is ridiculously thick, but it's soooooo cool, and I love it.

I'm not even sure if I care about winning at pool. When I play really well, most people just feel bad - if I hit a couple incredible shots and lose, everyone is happier. The other day I kept winning, and my friend's kid was getting pissed about it, so thank goodness he won the last game against me - I was afraid I might win again, which would have made no one happy. He got the best of both worlds: I looked like I was pretty good, and he won a couple games against me.

My main goal is to have fun and encourage others to have fun - if me winning will frustrate them and make them want to stop playing, I just hope I lose. If I lose, then they'll play me again, and I can have cool people around who will play pool with me.

I will say my OB Phoenix III is really high-performance. I don't like the LD trend, but for people who want a performance advantage, the OB Phoenix is an option, and at least it isn't CF. No one pays me to say that - it's just my opinion.

I hate CF shafts like I hate the taste of canned beets. It's an aesthetics thing, like some people like the smell of patchouli (hippies) and some hate it (yuppies).

I don't know anything about him, other than his posts on this thread, but Pee-Wee Herman is awesome, so maybe he is Pee-Wee Herman, and maybe if you're nice to him, he'll let you ride his bike, and introduce you to Eminem.

I think a guy who has the balls to show up at a Hell's Angels convention wearing a suit and driving a 150cc moped is worth talking to, and I'm not going to insult that guy, because he might have a reason to be so self-confident. I wouldn't have the balls to do that, but I can respect someone who does.

I haven't read the whole thread, so someone may have already made this point, but why not undo EVERY material change in billiards history while you're at it? Why not play with balls made of clay or ivory? Why not play on wooden tables? Why use leather tips? Why use synthetic cloth? Why have spots or diamonds on the table? Why allow a bridge to be used? Why allow metal racks and/or racking templates? Where does it stop?

Man, there are so many close-minded old people on this website. I honestly can't believe some of y'all have internet.
