You'd be suprised but I'd make a bet that thievery happens at all expo's....not just pool/billiard ones....

We caught a guy who was selling phony coins to use in the bar boxes at the U.S. Bar Table Championships several years back. He had a bag of them on his person. They were quarter shaped slugs, same size and weight, but blank. He confessed to everything.

He was taken to the security office of the casino that was hosting the event. They held him in a security room until the evening's drop from the slot machines was made. If any of these slugs were in there, he was GONE, off to jail and hard time.

Luckily for him they didn't find any. Then they asked me if I wanted to press charges against him. After all, he was defrauding a machine in use in the operation of a casino. This is a felony in Nevada and a conviction guarantees prison time.

I was asked in his presence and he broke down in tears, and apologized to me. I told them to kick him out of the casino. He would forfeit his entry into the tournament and any prize money he had coming. He got off easy and he knew it. His wife and daughter were there with him, and were waiting outside. One very stupid and lucky guy.

It is nice of you Jay.
I will do the same Jay, even if I were the victim of such petty fraud and thievary.I am more for punishment of a guy dressed in a blue suit, with a phony smile, low volume speech ( looking like ken Star, the special prosecutor in clinton`s case) and robbing the people of their life savings and with a smile cutting the throats of innocent people.

It's definatley not just pool expos..the car shows are really bad, lots of chrome leaves in pockets. That many people walking around from booth to booth is a security nightmare.
100 Kaiser doesn't warrant an ass beating in my book, probably not even a confrontation. It is a sick feeling getting cues stolen though. I had a pre 1972 ivory jointed Joss and a Keith walk out of an unfamilair pool room. The owner acted like he cared but he didn't really. He got busted later for drugs and guns.

Matt , That deffinatelly sucks that some dumbass would steal the proto-type. I jst wander how many people got a chance to see that paticular cue. I know first hand the quality that is in that cue, and it is a very nice cue. Hopefully justice will find the idiot who stole it from Kelly and Carolina Cues.

I prefer to look at how many people are disgusted by this stuff. That tells me there's way more good folks than bad where pool is concerned.

As for whipping them with a Cuetech, I really like that idea. "I just wanna see if I can get it to break like Earl did!"

If you are going to use a Cuetec to beat down anyone...you'll have to go through Travis Trotter first...he's the Sheriff here in Cuetec land!:D

Personally, I would use a Predator. That way, you don't have to adjust for deflection off his head...

That is the truth.
Every trade show I had a booth at, something was always stolen.
Last time it was a couple Light bulbs that are used to light up the company logo. I had extra ones, but still, come on that is pretty low.

I'm one of the builders at Carolina Customs. I'd like to get the word out that one of our prototype cues for Kwik Fire was stolen this afternoon.

It was removed from the rack at Kelly Fisher's booth while a big demonstration was going on at the next booth. Tons of people around. No one saw it.

Description:
ebony forearm
3 veneers (red, white, and blue)
cocobola pen blanks (point centers)
cocobola butt sleeve
outline diamonds in the points and in the sleeve for inlays
5 veneer checked rings (including the shaft). The veneers for the rings were red, white and blue with a white veneer above and below each ring.

Honestly, my main concern is that this was a prototype. We built three cues for them right before the show. There wasn't enough time to get the right material for the buttcap. The cue looks great, but we fear that the buttcap might fall off if someone chooses to play with this for any length of time.

I would just hate for this cue to be passed around as a sample of our work. It isn't 100% and was never meant to be sold or used. It was just a demo for getting orders.

Thank you guys for any help in finding this cue.

Matt Armstrong

Has this cue ever been found or is it still among the missing?

By the way, I just want to mention that Val let me try her new Caroline cue prototype in Valley Forge. It has cocobolo and birdseye with southwest style ring work. I have to say I really like the hit, I think the cue is very classy and well made.

I hope they can recover this stolen cue, and good luck to the Kwik Fire business.
