The one-pocket tournament, September 6-7, is $5,000 added based on 32 players, $75 entry fee, and is limited to 64 players. Format is race to 3, double elimination, finals race to 5. The mandatory players' meeting is Tuesday, September 6, at 12:00 noon.

The 9-ball tournament is September 8-11 and is based on 128 players with $15,000 added. This is a $75 entry fee, race to 11, double elimination, finals race to 15. The mandatory players' meeting is Thursday, September 8, at 12:00 noon.

For more information call Buxton Turner, who will be the Tournament Director, at (919) 759-0071 which happens to be the phone number of Fast Eddie's. :p

Hotel acccommodations can be had at the Irish Inns, (919) 778-1400, or Holiday Inn Goldsboro, (919) 751-1999. The address of Fast Eddies Bar and Grill, the venue site, is: 1308 Parkway Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

Last year, Scott "The Freezer" Frost won the one-pocket event, and Johnny Archer won the 9-ball event. This is an action friendly pool room, and during the off hours, there will be plenty to do and lots to see. The local folk in Goldsboro are friendly and make EVERYBODY feel welcome. There is nothing finer than a tournament in the Carolinas. :)

The 2005 Carolinas Open begins TOMORROW at 12:00 noon (players meeting).

Young Gun Brandon Shuff from Virginia has already departed and is en route.

We spoke to Gene Hooker, one of the promoters and owners of the venue site [Fast Eddie's], and the player roster was filling up FAST at that time. The one-pocket tournament is limited to 32 players. However, the 9-ball tournament is limited to 128 players.

I am bummed out that I can't make it this year. Senate comes back from recess tomorrow! :(

Each time we have gone to the Carolinas Open at Fast Eddie's in Goldsboro, North Carolina, we have had an absolute blast, win or lose. The after-hours festivities are wonderful.

Check out this picture of this Carolina buffet which was provided by Gene Hooker's lovely wife, FREE to all attendees. They know how to put on a spread in the Carolinas! From left to right: Ray "Cool Cat" Martin, Scott "The Freezer" Frost, Veteran Ron Parks, the colorful Bobby Pickle, and the lovely Rachel Abbink!

Absolutely! :D Whether he follows up, though, is another story. That tournament has action 24/7, and I remember last year, I got very little sleep! Brandon loves this kind of atmosphere!

Onepocket.Org will be there, though, inducting Nick Varner into the Hall of Fame. I'm sure Steve, the webmaster, will give us some great reports and pictures, too!
