Hi, I'm new here.
Just started playing 3C and wanted to find more carom rooms near my area. I live south of Los Angeles. Thanks in advance

There are two 3C tables at Hard Times.

Here's a link to the USBA. This list is for California and includes pool rooms that have at least one 3C table. There may be some rooms on the list that are more hardcore 3C rooms.

Now up to 5-6. I was by there recently to pick up a 3c shaft made by Al Romero. I am an absolute green newbie.

I asked a gentleman playing at one table if he could spare a few moments to get me started in the right direction. He was very generous with his time and advice. We hit balls for an hour before he had to leave.

I kept trying shots after he left. I hit a shot 10 times and couldn't get it. A man who was watching a 'golf' game offered a suggestion that worked immediately. 3c players seem to like to help someone learn. That's pretty cool.

My thanks to both gentlemen.

That's good to know. I heard that they had moved one or both of the snooker tables and had added a small bleacher for the bar table area, but I didn't know they added that many more 3C tables. Obviously they must have taken out some pool tables from the bangers section to accommodate the carom tables.

With 5-6 tables they can probably be more active in holding tournaments. That's cool.

I lived 15 yrs in N. Orange Cty/L.A area. There are places with at least 6-7 carom tables in Korea Town and Little Saigon areas of city of Westminster and Garden Grove. You will most likely look like an oddball hanging in there lol. There is also a Mexican-oriented billiard hall someplace up in LA/OC area, but can't recall the name. No offense to anyone, I just can't stand Mexican folk music playing when I am playing 3C, so dissed that place. However, Koreans and Vietnamese will definitely get you going and assist you if you show an interest in the game. It sucks trying to find carom tables in SoCal. I almost got me a table shipped from Soren-Sogaard of Denmark at one point back then  Hopefully things are better in SoCal now, in terms of carom tables. But I highly doubt it...No Carom, No Soccer in U.S.................

Billiardshot-

I had previosly spoken to him about it-and then on the first Sunday in May, saw him test hitting a 3c cue he was about to deliver. It was a classic style-a turned wood screw in the shaft-plain but very solid. He allowed me to hit it-it was a very solid hit. The shaft was as nearly as I could tell a straight conical taper-joint to the ferrule. I told Al that it seemed a little too beefy for my small fingers in a closed bridge.

Al said he would fix me up. He did. He fitted the shortened (1 1/2-2 in)shaft to my playing cue-duplicated the collar/ring work -mated the flat faced 5/16-18 pin/ took .040 off the shaft in the bridging area/allowed me a 12.5mm tip(he suggested 12mm)/a 1/2 inch non-capped ferrule and a pressed LePro tip.

I am not used to it yet but I like the solid feel. My pro-taper shaft just didn't have the backbone for the heavier balls.

I relied completely on Al's expertise.(except minor tip sizing accomodation)

I don't know how to do pictures.

Maybe i could mic it at intervals if that helps.

It was a pleasure to work with Al. He knew what I needed-I didn't. I had heard only good things about him. I am now on that list of fans.

Thanks for asking
