Wow - today is the day of cases - from mine - to Jack's awesome TAR case - to Jiasen's masterpieces.

This collection of cases represents a year's work by 3 artists and one assistant.

This is the link to my gallery pages of Jiasen's cases http://www.jbcases.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2602

This is the link to the AZ Gallery of those cases http://forums.azbilliards.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=555

I have always wondered do people ever actually carry cases like that, or are they just purchased and displayed?

Guys, those pictures don't even do them justice. I saw some of them last week at the BCA show in person.

You walk around in that buying or selling mindstate looking at manufacturers and distributers and talking business and then you see these cases and just have to step back and take a minute to admire them. Truly AMAZING work and detail. In person, all that detail is almost 3D. They really are incredible cases.

I saw this one in Jerry O's Booth at the BCA 8 Ball and I could not the workmenship. Think if Jerry had 3-4 For Sale they would have sold out.

Allen Hopkins Junior put away his dad's Fellini to carry the HT-006 Dragon case.

Allen Hopkins senior thought it was underpriced at $1700.

CC - The prices are listed on the for sale section of the board. I usually do not include prices when I show on this section as this one is for appreciation of the work without regard to what it costs.

Thank you everyone for the compliements.

I want to to share the story of these cases with you;

These cases come from the Jiasen Cue Case factory. Last year I began working with Jiasen and they were doing some decent cases but with the typical problems associated with people who copy cases without any knowledge of the game.

At the time they were doing very crude but decen tooled imitations of Instrokes and credible copies of Whittens.

I fixed their issues with construction quality and encouraged them to think beyond copying. I worked with them on design and guided them without doing the work for them.

About eight months ago they indicated that they wanted to get into the carving aspect of decoration after seeing some of the JB Case work. So they hired a tooler and artist, hired someone skilled in painting and dyeing leather and put their best sample maker in charge of construction.

Then they asked me what themes they should do. I said that they should do what they know best so that it comes from the heart. This is how the Jiasen collection of Chinese art was born. They took their own myths and legends and transfered the art to cue cases.

I have watched these cases develop slowly and could barely contain my excitement these past months. Many times I have wanted to show the world and I have let a few pictures leak to select folks.

Jiasen has gone from a smallish factory producing decent copies to a world class casemaker in their own right. I am proud to say that I had a part in it. I cannot claim any part in the artistry displayed here as the creativity and execution is wholly to the credit of Mr. Wang and his talented team at Jiasen.

outstanding pieces of art you have there JB case, one of the most intricate and gorgeous case i have seen around.

I wonder if someone would carry the case on an everyday basis and risk scratching the artwork. I surely won't !!!

I guess it would come down to each person. Personally, I'd carry it and wouldn't worry about scratches etc... Don't get me wrong, I surely wouldn't purposely mistreat it so it would get all scuffed up but I wouldn't have a coronary if it got a scrape on it. It's a cue case and it's made to carry and protect cues. If it gets a scratch on it and my cue doesn't then it did what it was intended to do. Not to mention, how cool is the old guy in the pool room that comes in with the case he's been carrying for 40 years and it's all beat up and worn in? Very cool. Very very cool!!

I feel the same way about cues too. I break with my play cue all the time. It's made to play pool with and the break shot is part of that game. My only concern with using my play cue to break with is that it gets the tip out of playing shape. Not worried about the cue in the least though. When I change a tip I'll usually use that cue for everything including the break until it mushrooms and needs to be reshaped. Once I get that shaping taken care of I'll switch back to using my break cue.
