Interesting to hear about this new club in Houston.

I would appreciate any information about it, and if they owner would like to send me information and photos I would publicize the new club on the SnookerUSA.com website.

This is what I have found out on the internet about it:

I'll be in the neighborhood Saturday, but they don't open til 6pm. I've never had Pakistani food before, so I might as well give that a try for dinner while I'm there.

I've made contact with the owner and he seems like a very nice gentleman.

He informed me that the Club will be fully up and operational on April 15th.

They would be very interested to have a USSA Tour event at the club, and currently have over 50 players registered locally.

We will hopefully get this Tour event organized for this year as soon as possible.

Best wishes.

Alan.

I'd like to make another visit to Houston again so I will have to come there and check this new snooker out, and also give you a few practice sessions!

Cheers.

The club is still taking shape, but it should be pretty nice once it's all together with three full size snooker tables.
They don't have anybody in the club who has been formerly trained, so it looks like I'll be up there a lot performing the coaching duties.

Alan: I'd love that. Just let me know!

Hey guys, I live in Houston, however I travel quite frequently with my job, when in Houston I play with Ali and his crew at Cheetah Lounge, The cloth is very dense and the rubber could be upgraded ( tables are slow ) none the less, the guys there are great, and appreciate a proper game of snook, its more of a private club. I also played at Bogies, the table and all its parts seem to be in excellent playing condition, ( accept the pool Playing cloth wich destroys your potting and development ), however I was free potting by myself and enjoying it, 5 of the regular pool players with serious pride issues thought i was showing off so I was challenged by each one of them, needless to say I sent each one with there $10,000.00 fancy pool cues and million dollor leather cases back to the pool tables:) I was in Calgary last week and played quite well at Mikes Billiards wich has 3 Dufferin 6x12 covered in baize and are set up for snooker play rather than most snooker tables in the states that arent propoerly set up for snooker. Looking forward to Houston getting some proper tables:) cheers.

I went with a friend today. They welcomed us in and gave us a soft drink on the house and they showed us around. They were in the process of assembling a table and will add 2 others. The bar area looks nice and I think once the place is finished it will really be nice. I will post videos and pictures after the next time I visit which will be in a couple of weeks. They are all for having tournaments and having the USSA involved. This is truly awesome. I hope their internet connection is good maybe we can stream some matches.

Are you going to play in the USSA Tour event at the 4 Kaz Snooker Club & Bar in Las Vegas next month? I should be back in Vegas next month and may well play in that Tour event myself - I could possibly head down to Houston after that if my schedule permits me. I'll be sure to let you know!

Cheers.

Thanks for the photos you posted on Facebook! I have been in touch with them on behalf of the USSA and I hope to have a Tour event there this year. I'll try and make it there to play and exhibition, possibly after my next visit to Las Vegas next month.

Hey guys, I live in Houston, however I travel quite frequently with my job, when in Houston I play with Ali and his crew at Cheetah Lounge,...

I wasn't able to reach them by phone a while back and gave up trying. Do you have a phone number for them? I have a placeholder listing for Cheetah Lounge, but would like to provide a phone number and a confirmed number and size of the snooker tables:

http://www.findsnooker.com/Texas.html

I'll be adding Champions Snooker to the website within the next few days. Those three tables, plus one or tables in Cheetah Lounge, plus one private table I know about could bring us to the nice round number of 300 known snooker tables in the States.

Hey Everyone

I had no idea we would get such a wonderful response. My place is still under construction and hopefully will be fully operation by the end of April. Thanks a lot for all the support.

Regarding Cheetah Lounge, a gentleman named Ali is the owner and the club is very low key and more of a social place for its direct members, however Ali and his associates are very friendly and family oriented and will welcome you to join in. I have his number only because I started playing competitively at the club, I would love to advertise his number with hopes of seeing him expand the club, but I'm not sure what his business plan is or how he wants his number distributed, so therefor I shall hold his number that he gave to me. There is two full size tables, one a Dufferin, & one a Riley.

Champoins Snooker. I wish they learn and resolve there issues, nice building

Yes, Here is the latest story....

2011 snooker tournament main event has started on Friday May 27th. I was expecting a nice professional environments but I was so annoyed when some customers started playing slot machines during the game. Man... those bells can drive you crazy, did to me.
The funny part was the entrance door chime, which went off at-least 100 times during the game creating a nice stereo effect among the two, "chime and slot machine."

I was about to snap but someone from the audience, player, beat me to it and saved me from agony. He got very upset and asked the house to stop this nonsense in a calm and rational manner but to no avail. Everyone just seemed to completely ignore the gentlemen as if his concern wasn't a matter of importance, which after a few short minutes caused the gentlemen to lose his calm state and become more aggressively loud but he at least waited until the end of the game. The gentlemen and the loud noisy audience took their discussion outside, which was more of a yelling back and forth than any real conversation. But at the very least, the players were allowed to focus on their match with all the noise outside, you know the MATCH for the tournament that all the people were there for in the first place. Later on during the night, I noticed people were walking out because the tournament rules were being altered. The tournament was already half way through and your going to alter the rules? The alterations of rules during a phase of the tournament is unethical and unfair towards the players in the tournament still and to those who already knocked out because now these new rules should have applied to them as well. Another example of how unprofessional run this tournament was, this alteration resulted in three to four players withdrawing from the tournament. Furthermore, another player referred to the tournament as "a joke" as he brashly walked out from the event.

I would like to pull an example from any pool or snooker tournament broad-casted on TV or held, if you will take notice the audience are always in complete dead silence. The game requires focus and concentration when playing, you cant run a tournament in the middle of a circus. The slot machines shouldn't be on they just add to the noise and distraction, leaving them on just for money when your hosting a tournament is just not professional. The event should be treated in a professional manner and respected by everyone attending the tournament. I would hope they have learned something from this experience and next time they will use a professional atmosphere during the tournament and it will be setup to the standard guidelines of snookerusa.com which requires 3 snooker tables for any tournament, although this place only has two but misreported they had three, and a professional crowd.

The environment isn't perfect, but with time, things will improve. Visitors will begin to understand being courtious and the player will stop walking thru the opponents line of sight.

But the Houston area should be glad to have a place to play snooker tournaments, while other cities are closing up shop, at least it is expanding here.

I went to play my match this afternoon. At the time the place was quiet and the people were very accommodating. I am not saying the place is perfect but with time they will work it out. I enjoyed my time there and would like to thank Mani and the other guys for having the tournament.

Champion Snooker Tornament

Here is what I want to say about the last night event, I witnessed the complete thing and I have been playing snooker for years now...Yes this is a new club on the block and nothing is perfect unless you want to help. But there are always peoples who can talk and some who can really do something that makes a difference. Everything has a solution as long as you want to fix it but it’s easy to break something than to make it. At the end I would just like to say that Great Efforts by the Team of Champions Snooker who brought this opportunity to Houston on this Level.......

Always believe in Making a Difference....
Working for a Better Tomorrow...

Champion Snooker Tornament

Hey Everyone,
I think the tournament is going fine and everybody is enjoying. Amazed to see that there are so many people who play snooker. It's a game, so lets not take anything personal and take it as an ammusement. Everything takes time to manage.
Cheers
Thanks!
