I'm officially kicking you out as my protege.

Sincerely,

Another great post by a good friend. You make a lot of valid points. Plus...these ideas can be put into other parts of your life such as relationships, careers, or other hobbies.

Kind of like the 'ol saying, "whether you think you can or think you can't.....you're right!"

Since I read the breaking to win section in Lessons in 9 Ball I have greatly improved my break shot, making more balls on the break and stopping thr q ball in the midle of the table more often. The book is well written with plenty of diagrams and drills to punish most players. Buy it, you wont be dissapointed.

Based on my experience with aspiring pool players and the multitude of threads you have started on here, most of which are what I would call "vanity" threads, I seriously doubt that you will even be playing pool in two years.

You will have gone on to other more worthwhile pursuits, when you tire of this one. Your table will be For Sale! :)

DrCuesProtege,

You have to get out of your house and play other people to be good. Practicing by yourself - well - you'll freeze the first time you get into competition where someone is running racks on you. Your game will fall apart. If all you can ever do is practice by yourself and post questions on AZ Billiards, well, I would quit.

Mel, you find all of the good action. It disgusts me. I'm only a once a week guy these days, so if you want to I'll try the 7 and the breaks on Saturday. Think about it.

Champions include not just those who attain the top of their profession.

We are ALL champions if we do the following:

* Champions love to learn and enjoy participating in the learning process.

* Champions have an insatiable desire to learn and build upon what is learned.

* Champions understand that learning is an ongoing process.

* Champions are motivated by their disappointments to work harder towards their goals.

* Champions have a systematic game plan for dealing with setbacks and disappointments.

* Champions know that past failures are the bricks they need to build future success.

* Champions know that unexpected obstacles will lead them towards well expected improvement.

* Champions remain in the solution, not the problem.

* Champions remain positive throughout the process of growing.

* Champions understand that winning is merely a byproduct of hard work and determination.

Thanks for your on-going wisdom Blackjack!
