Who is your least favorite player currently active in the pool scene?

and

Even if you had a sponsorship offer, what cue and shaft (if any) would you refuse to play with? If you play with a production cue then pick a production, if you play with a custom pick a custom.

I can't stand Mike Dechaine because of his egotistical behavior and lack of sportsmanship.

Cuetec with fiberglass shaft. I'd play with the R360 but definitely not the fiberglass.

I would think Earl Strickland would be the only one I wouldn't sponsor. He had Cuetec for years and years and I think I heard was like $40-60K a year, so no giving the "sponsored" a ton of cues TO SELL to earn money.

Earl won many championships with cuetec cues. But talked like they were awful, and being the A$$ he was he said that I beat everyone EVEN with using this cue! (Implying it was a terrible cue).

Eventually, Cuetec had enough of Earl and he lost that sponsorship after about 10 years.

With all due respect, Ken, I think you're confusing the OP.

My answer: I wouldn't want to play with Earl, even if I had the nuts.
Why? If I lose, I would hate to lose to him.
If I win, he'll be the typical a$$hole he is.
Too much to bear with either way for me. :p

As far as sponsorship goes, I wouldn't accept a sponsorship from a manufacturer that "gave me" a hi-end cue.
I would rather play with a simple, straightforward cue stick.

Something the masses can identify with and realistically purchase.

You get where I'm coming from boogey!!

I don't think I have met a pro I would not play with due to personality outside of maybe Earl, and only the 50% of Earl that is too into himself, not the 50% of Earl that loves the game and shows respect to his opponents.

But there are players that I avoid watching because they are tough to watch for me due to how they play. Kennedy is one of them, there are a few others.
Oh, Mika Immonen due to the fact that he tends to be less than honorable in his games, same thing for Orcullo.

I definitely second not using the fiberglass shaft or even worse, aluminum shaft.

Something about how Mike Dechaine chalks up really bothers me. And as far as cues go. anything other than a wood shaft i would have to steer clear of.

My least favorite player right now is Jeff Ignacio; he's a stellar player by all means but I feel like he didn't truly win his USBTC championships, in his finals luck aided him. Like, when Bergman was over him 4 to 2. Justin breaks dry, and then on his 4-4 break he scratches on the break. Again, Ignacio still had to run the balls but he's fortunate Justin caught two bad breaks. I feel like he doesn't quite play as good as the other top pros.

Not trying to knock him at all and I certainly could not beat him, and many many people cannot either but I just feel like he can't truly compete with the top players yet.

As for equipment I wouldn't play with even when sponsored: I'd say Mezz. Just not a fan of anything that they put out. I'd love to play with OB though and shoot with the 120 Sneaky =)

EDIT: I might steer clear of Ronnie Alcano as well for some of his poor sportsmanship in the past.

I'd play with any cue that any sponsor gave me and paid me to play with.
Unless you're a billionaire, you don't just refuse a sponsorship.

I don't like to watch or hear about Charlie Williams. Mika is a baby... I've always wondered if he comes from a family with megabucks. He gives-off that spoiled, rich kid vibe.

Oscar Dominguez, and I'll tell you why: he's such a nice guy. Those are the ones you gotta watch out for because they're the ones that always turn out to be serial killers. I'm not trying to play pool with a guy that might chop me up and feed me to his cat.

But in all seriousness, Mika seems like a jerk and Earl is just nuts, so probably neither of them.

As for cues, I don't think I'd play with any cue from makers who have really screwed people. Zinzola in particular comes to mind.

I wouldn't want to play with any of the slow pro players. If you're going to beat me, let's get it over with quickly rather than making me sit through a slow-motion train wreck.

I wouldn't endorse any cuemaker that uses parts from any endangered species -- animal or wood. I don't care if it's certified out the ying-yang; it contributed to the near-death of a specie and I don't want any part of it.

Yes you are. You're saying he isn't good or only won because of luck...in 9 ball...on a bar table...that shit is un-avoidable.

Jeffrey Ignacio is world class IMO. He has one of the smoothest strokes with the least amount of effort.

The twerp from the pool huslters, you know, the guy with the obnoxious girlfriend. Geez, he plays bad, he's whipped and he's not very bright ;)

Ok, I had to pick someone, but hey, don't kill the messenger, every show needs a villain, and this will keep the ratings there. Negative stuff sometimes if more powerful then the good stuff, how else do we explain the Kardashians ???

Of course, if he wants to get sponsored by Magic Chalk, I'm in. Well, if his girlfriend tells him it's OK ;)

Don't hit me with them negative waves. Why don't you say something Righteous and hopeful for a change?;)

I was on a tear in a tournament a while back and then ran into a freight train named Carlo Biado. That greedy, smooth-playing SOB hogged all the table time and didn't even give me a decent shot all match.

I friggin' hate that guy.

It wouldn't be a pleasure to play with players that have no respect for the game.

Predator P3 for me is the ugliest cue, I didn't play with it for any money.

Well everybody wants to blow their favorite pro or would blow their favorite cue maker, so I wanted to see who you guys wouldn't blow! lol

Pros who are dicks: Mike D, Danny H, Ryan M, Mika I, Charlie W, and many more that I am probably forgetting at the moment.

I'd never play with a walmart cue.
