You'd be surprised how many people think this is real...
Well, duh.... they are called BAR boxes because they set the BAR for standard of play. Thought everyone knew that.
It's because they look deceptively easy, but don't be fooled by looks. They are tough tables to put packages together on. Because of that, looking easy, but actually being tough, that people get upset with them and then want to get rid of them.
Most don't know this, but tables used to be much, much smaller. They had to be for the hustlers back in the day to carry them around on horseback from town to town. It would take so long to get to another town, that they didn't want to risk there not being a table, so they carried them with them.
Eventually, people got tired of getting hustled at pool, and started making bigger tables to put in the saloons that the hustlers couldn't carry around. This enabled the locals to get better at the game (because they now had a table of their own to practice on). The smaller tables began to get some disdain because of the association with the hustlers.
So, you see, if it weren't for the small tables, there would be no tables at all. :grin:
Well if I remember to get online tonight on the computer I'll green rep you . Only good game on them is 8 ball.
But I'm a big table freak and one hole lover so I'm just a tad cynical

I have to drive an hour just to get to a big table, so bar table is better than nothing.

Fun Fact: I play on a bar table once every other week when I go to the barbershop...Still hate them for the fact that they hinder American players from competing on the world stage.
Here in NYC, there is no shortage of 9 footers

I can't see as far as I could when younger so 9' tables are nearly impossible now for me to play well and have fun on.
Why don't you want me to enjoy pool as I want to enjoy it? You sound very mean-spirited. That attitude is bad for the game of pool.

Contacts if possible. They're a cure all for me at 65. See clear as crystal on a 9 footer.

I've had 2 lasik surgeries after using contacts for about 5 years and after having worn thick glasses since I was 10, but thanks for the advice.
My problem with the OP is my problem with most people who think they're smarter than the rest of us: They think that what's good for them must therefore be good for everyone else, too, so they advocate taking away others' choices via force and fraud, as in burn all 7' tables, for the example from that web site.
