Changing joint on miller lite cue

Depends...

How much do you want to spend ?

I was going to change the uniloc pin on my McDermott M901 to a 3/8x10 pin. The local cue repair guy wanted $50 to take the old uniloc pin out, fill the hole, then re-bore the hole and insert the new 3/8x10 pin.

(Note : He asked me to leave him whichever one of my 3/8x10 shafts I wanted to use as the primary shaft, so he could insure that the joints were flush. I would have never thought about leaving the shaft, but it makes sense in retrospect).
I ended up NOT changing the pin and selling that cue, but just the fact that HE brought up leaving the shaft to be sure it matched up ?? I take ALL my work to him now.

If you like the cue, and you've got a few extra beans, then why not ?

I'm guessing the Miller Lite cue has some sort of sentimental value. Don't let some hack try to change the pin. Ask around, and ask lots of questions.

Let us know which way you choose...

What pin is in it now? Is there an insert in the forearm? Is it worth like $100 to you? I'm not sure what a cuemaker will charge, but this could easily triple the amount of money you have in this kind of cue.

It's less expensive to change the joint pin than it is to 'customize' an unfinished high performance shaft.

Like I said earlier, if you've got a few extra bucks burnin' a hole in your pocket, then why not ?

I just changed the ferrule and tip on my budweiser cue. It wasn't too expensive and made it play 100 times better.

The point of this is to make a ridiculous looking cue that plays great.

Guaranteed action. The "players" will be lining up.

Get it with a thread that is the same as one of your better cues and then you can use those shafts on it. I thought of doing that except I don't own one of those cues. Seen a cue at some cut rate retailer with a butt cap that would light up when it stuck the CB. Was thinking of doing thing. Thought it would also make a good league cue. Anything for a few laughs and a good time. Chances are after a few see it there will be someone that will just have to have it and pay a premium for it.

Good luck

I think this over emphasizes how much a cue helps you play and how much a sucker knows about the difference between a cue and a good cue. . . good luck!

I think you would need to do more than change the pin. I would core and plug the forearm with a piece of maple as well. build a new shaft with the old rings and do something in the butt of the cue to make sure it has that wal-mart cue tick sound when you hit the ball. You'll also need the walmart box case to complete the look. Have fun.:)

Out of total curiosity ... What kind of shaft with a 3/8x11 pin are you aspiring to put on the Miller Lite cue?

It wouldn't happen to be that Southwest you have listed in your signature would it? That would be way too funny.
