OK, I've never been to the DCC but I'm saving all my pennies so I can go in 09! I've seen videos from previous tourneys and there is always the Charlie Chaplan guy around. What is the dealio with him?? Are there other characters floating around? Mark Twain? Abe Lincoln? Napolean??

He goes to alot of big tournaments i hear he was a good player at one time they call him pots and pans very nice guy enjoyed talking to him

I believe his real name is Bunny Rogoff or something similar to that. I spent a few hours talking with him at the Cue Club in Vegas one year and then had some of his stories backed up by a reputable source...from the sounds of it, he was a helluva of a road player. He seems to be losing it a little bit but he had me laughing my ass off with some great stories.

Thanks for the info. I bet that's half the fun.. all the great stories and characters to tell them floating around there. Can't wait till next year!

That guy is a nut!!! I was standing by the PoolTees booth and Corey Dueul and some girl were talking about 10 feet away from me and Charlie Chaplin goes up to the girl, points to her pants and says "Can this be suede?" She says yes. Then he points to her shirt/chest and says "then can this be felt?" And he reaches out with both hands to grab and she jumped back about 5 feet in shock.

I saw him use that joke at least three times over the course of the week.

I heard him say to a girl, " If I said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me?"
I asked if that EVER worked.
He replied, "Once, (long pause) I think."

He is getting a bit slow. Last year at DCC I watched him trying to sign a cueball for a fan, he was sitting in the TV-VIP seats. It took him about 5 minutes to put his signature on the ball, like he was drawing some sort of artwork masterpiece or something. Nonetheless, he seems like a nice old guy.

Pots 'n' Pans

I've sat next to him at the breakfast counter at the Exec West. The guy is certainly full of himself, but harmless, so far as I can tell. Obviously he's starved for attention, as is anyone who relies on a costume to interact with strangers.

But yes, he's amusing.

A couple of years ago I watched him showing the young boy, Landon, a few tricks with the cue.
He knows pool.

one of a kind

Charlie Chaplin's name is Bunny Rogoff ,and he was the best road scuffler there has ever been. His target bets ranged from 50 cents to $20 a game.He would often wear a truck drivers outfit with a large wallet in his back pocket attached to a chain. He played the drunk sucker in the bar part flawlessly. But what I really admired about Bunny is that he is the most honorable person I have ever met,bar none. The reason I know so much about him is because I grew up in the same city where he lived Pittsburgh Pa.He beat me when I was 16 years old,but that's ok he beat about 50,000 other people as well. His win loss record makes Jack Cooney's look like he can get the four and the snap. So,the next time you see him you'll be looking at a man with a lot of character,if you know what I mean.
