I saw Hillbilly play 4 matches at the Super Billiards Expo. It was my first time watching him play and was quite impressed. He has a monster break, plays suffocating safties and his kicking skills are on par with the best in the world. I think out of the 4 matches he played I witnessed him kick at 12 balls and hit them all. Made some kicks but most importantly kicked it on the right side of the ball to leave a safety. On the last day of the SBE I saw him walking around and decided to go up to him. If you haven't seen Charlie in person I can tell you he is a very intimidating person. Looks can be deceiving, cause he is on of the nicest guys I've talked to. He is right up there with Tony Robles and John Schmidt. He told me he is a "systems" player. I was glad to hear that he finally got the green light for his books to get published. We can all learn Hillbilly's systems real soon.

I spent some time with him in vegas one year watching him gamble. I thought it was cool that he was friendly, so i keep his thirst quenched with coors all night :)

I hope you are right about revealing his kicking system in an upcoming book. It looks unique, but incredibly effective.

i had the pleasure of watching mr bryant play a few matches at turningstone this year. i loved watching him play. way big break. i also love his self commentary while he is shooting. i was able to chat with him briefly. he was very personable. i too am looking fwd to reading his books. he was also talking up a big tourny getting put together in galvaston tx for sept with a huge prize fund. he said he saw the signed contract with diamond for a 100 9ft'ers. said he'd be posting about it soon here on az but that was a month ago and i havent seen anything yet.

I've seen alot of the big name pool players play and IMHO Hillbilly can not only play run out pool, but he's also the most entertaining player I've seen. (Im still waiting to see Earl)

Oy, Coors? And I was under the impression that you *liked* the guy. Too cruel....

my 2 cents

Charlie is a very good player when he is at his best, he is the best.

Much more than that, he is trying to become a better person all the time.

This shows me all I need to know about his character.

I love the Hillbilly even though I have not seen him play alot just a few times on ESPN or streamed. I love his down to earth personality ... When I first got into the game it was all offense and being able to run out was a big plus. I know alot of the old timers still frown on it but the game has changed. You no longer have to play run out pool. Defense is key and a must. If your game has outstanding safety play like the Hillbilly does couple with a great kicking game and such a strong break you can beat a run out player or all offensive player.
