I'm kicking around going to the Derby in January.

Southwest is running a special right now that might be able to save you some cash. Generally, their specials only last a couple to a few days.

For the Derby, fly into Louisville, KY.

I got a price of $101.00 ROUND TRIP from central NC.

Now lets see what weight I have to give the wife...

$120 round trip from BWI or DCA $60 bucks each way!

cant beat that. plus, 2 checked bags free! Pool cue must be checked! So, the Bag fees on other airlines at $25 1st bag and $30 2nd are more then the ticket from SWA!!!!!!

Driving to Derby is more then $60 each way including tolls.

You really need to HOP on this deal. Its online only for 72 hours then GONE LIKE THE WIND!!!

Best to get a suitcase large enough to put your case into. The weight limit is 50 pounds, so that shouldn't be much of a problem. I got what you might call a "rigid duffel" that's just a little longer than my pool cue. Here's the description.
