I found these cheap layered cue tips with free shipping on ebay, so I wonder if anyone here tried these and if you have some comments on quality, durability, playability and hardness. I like Kamui Black SS, so would like to find something cheaper in that hardness, there are cheaper cue tips but shipping to me is more expensive than the tip itself.

Hard to say as to the quality, but I'm pretty sure there are better options for layered tips that are cheaper than those. Thoroughbred and Precision are two that come to mind at $10 each. You also have even cheaper alternatives around the $3 price point in kamikaze and Ultraskins. Cheaper doesn't always mean lesser quality just like more expensive doesn't always equate to better quality.

Rule of thumb is, sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes you pay for what you don't get.
I tried the cuesoul based on opinions from some here. Threw them in the trash. The other brand. I don't know. I play with Kamui and I'm staying with Kamui.

Cheap is your first Clue. Putting on CHEAP stuff, is most times expensive Not only is your money at risk, so is your time..? JMHO

I wonder who thought to name the tip "Collapsar", seems about the equivalent of naming them mushrooms.

Before going that route, check out SIB tips. I use them and have install several for others; no complaints in over a year.
1 to 9 tips run $5 each; if you buy 10 tips the price drops to $3.50.
Add $2.70 for shipping and you are still in great shape.
I do not know all the science behind the build process of layered tips; I do know these SIBs play as well as any $20+ tip I have used and/or installed.

Even at $20, if you use two tips a years, it's a cheap habit at less than $3.50 a month (that's a beer a month for all you real pool players). That said, I still use the SIB tips...

I totally agree and would use tips like SIB, or the others named here, but I live in Bosnia, Europe, just shipping would get it to the same price range or more as the money I have to pay Kamui for here.

Thank you all for your oppinions, I really appreciate it!!

Tips

I have installed several of the 9 cuesoul tips with the violet stripe layer. I have good results and feedback. I have them installed on my personal playing cue ( medium ) with no issues, I have installed them for several local players and a few of them are strong players that say they like the tip.
The red cuesoul tips play great but tend to delaminate:(.

cuesoul offers several types of tips and we all know there can be a bad tip on the batch from time to time but for the most part I’ve had great results and feedback on the cuesoul tips in the link provided above.
Tips are a preference, I’ve had guys/gals that say they hate kamui tips and I’ve had others that love them...
But I suggest for everyone to give cuesoul tips a try.

Seriously, whenever you see a low price for a layered tip RUN AWAY, as fast as you possibly can, and don't look back! I haven't tried the exact one you're asking about, but I've tried pretty much every tip I could reasonably get my hands on. If it's layered and cheap, it's crap! It's that simple. The cheap tips feel dry, hard, dead..The cheapest tips feel almost like they're made of wood or plastic, even though they're leather. More glue than leather, and the leather is super cheap and bad quality.

If you want a cheap tip, buy a triangle. If you're a bit more adventurous, buy a LePro, soak it in milk and press it lightly in a vise (that one is substantially better than the Triangle, but a bit more work. I can't tell you how hard to press. You learn that by trial and error, but it's worth it). These two tips beat any cheap layered tip I've ever tried as far as consistency and control goes.

The best thing is once it's mushroomed and been trimmed back, a tip like this stays good, while a layered tip needs so much pampering it's like a spoiled teenage girl. They glaze, they harden, delaminate, they collapse, they need shaping, trimming, picking, scuffing...It's something going on every time you take the cue out of the bag. I've had the same LePro for 2 years now. I've not even taken it down substantially. Believe me, I took a 6 month break, but before that, the tip got played HARD, and when I took it out again, it was still perfect. Now I've played it for a couple of months. Still good.

The best part is: if it gets ruined somehow (I do shoot a lot of jumps and masses with my playing cue), it costs next to nothing to replace. But again, I've had the same tip for 2 years. I laugh at people who change their 30 dollar Kamuis once a month. Aint nobody got time fo dat.

There are a few things I really avoid cheapening out on.

One of them is cue tips. Another is mail order brides. Neither of them hold their shape for long and are liable to come apart on you.

Reviving a 4 year old thread because: It's time to get some tips, and the World Snooker Championships are on.

I've read 80% of the top pro snooker players are using Cuesoul Tips. It thought it odd because if you go to the web site for Cuesoul it doesn't exactly inspire you to think they care much of cue sports as they do Darts. I know these guys are sponsored, but has anyone seen an advertisement for Cuesoul watching Snooker? Patches? Why would most of these players use these inexpensive tips?

They aren't even listed on the Tip Hardness Charts that I could find.
A few Youtube Videos are singing the praises of how long they last and how really great they are, so, Curren thoughts and opinions on these tips? There must be some after 4 years.

Also, I do prefer a softer tip. Any suggestions?
I've received two Precision Layered Tips from Dennis Searing to put on two of my shafts.
I have a Snooker Shaft and a Carom Shaft to retip. I'm going to try the Cuesoul for the Snooker Shaft.
What about the Carom Shaft? At the moment it has a Triangle Tip.
(Hardness Unknown, came with it, I'm guessing Medium)

Try an ADR147 super soft or soft for snooker. Go onto TSF and you'll see nothing but praises being sung for them. I have one fitted onto my English pool cue. Fantastic tip.
