Chinese 8-ball event in LA

Haha. I am sticking with cultural differences.

That dude would get punched in the face for pulling that shit twice in a lotta places.

Good for svb, toughing it out. That which does not kill you will likely try again.

Did you watch the beginning? It was way worse.
Jason

Should have culturally appropriated some Mike Tyson on his ignorant ass.

This event

Went and watched it LIVE yesterday for couple of hours.
Shane, Corey and Max still in the event as of when we left.
Beautiful tables and well placed for comfort. TV arena setting was nicely set up.
Yet, the whole thing was in a warehouse looking building with lots of hallways and weird furniture for sure

But, the sport itself:
Garrett is an amazing player.
Talked to Shane a bit and Tang. Hard to spin balls on that cloth.
Pockets are not that tight, but the cloth is sort of directional and spinning balls are very difficult. Pretty much you have to play perfect position for speed control to avoid spin.
Frozen balls are easy to pocket, but off the rail a bit. Good luck.
Saw Shane pocket some really really nice off the rail shots with perfect speed. But, he also struggled on some, well he wanted to use spin and not working.
All together:
I wish all the promoters of this type event in the US the best of luck. The venue needs to be a bit better.
The marketing needs to be a bit better as well.
We helped them out on The GoPlayPool App and we know POVpool did some on site social media marketing for them. BUT... that all wasn't done in a timely fashion.
Wish them the best!

Have you seen a bracket anywhere?!

OK. It looks like Shi Hanqing is playing Li Hewen right now and the winner plays Gareth Potts in the final.

[If something I read is accurate.]

nope - bad theory

Hey -Without those stories, they probably only would have gotten 20 or so :)

this is called sweeping up under the rug, so your saying it's ok to have false advertising? May be the same reason you have no stroke. Without ref's there will always be sharking and no way to control it.

Many of these matches are up on youtube. I watched the finals last night. Potts is amazing. Never watched him before and I was very impressed. Would love to see him play SVB some long sets of American 8-ball. Pinpoint position and doesn't seem to ever miss.

Here are the finals. You can find the rest of them on this guy's youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLFRaudOvtI

Potts has UK 8 ball titles and would just destroy Shane in any version of 8 ball

I'd like to see that match. Either way. Watching Shane play 8-ball he doesn't play perfectly...close but not quite...but he plays more perfectly than everybody else in the US. Which is why he wins. In order to beat him in a long set the other player would need to play very close to perfectly. I think Potts would. It would be great to watch.

On a standard American pool table, 7 or 9 foot, I like Shane.
....I ‘m thinking that Shane’s packs are gonna keep Gareth in his chair.

Shane misses shots on these tables that he doesn't miss on American cut pockets. But maybe Gareth does too? It would be great to watch.
