Chris's Billiards

I got to see Chris's for the first time this past friday. While yes it has years of wear and tear I really liked it. It to me is was an old school pool room should feel like when you walk it.

The new owners talked about some new paint, carpet and a few other things. Which I think would be great as long as they keep all the wall decor and such that give it the old school feel.

I got to play some fun 3c with some AZ royalty in SJM and "T" which was great fun.

I can't wait to get back to Chicago and will definatetly make sure I get back to Chris's atleast twice.

Here is an interesting link about film locations for "The Color of Money," which has a nice little diddy about Chris's Billiards ---> HERE

I see Joe Diaz at the old Brunswick billiard table, saying to a student...
...in a soft but firm voice.....
"Do not hit a ball hard in my presence."

Great writeup...

I miss Joe. I would watch him for hours, it was like balet. Rolling his ball just enough to make the point, nothing more. And his bellowing laugh, it would echo over everything. I walked him up the mountain of stairs when his brother dropped him off a long time ago, his days were numbered then. But he could still make points. He was generous with his knowledge. I miss those days.
