I think this is going to eventually blow those overpriced cable services out of the water.
My Comcast cable bill is $230 a month, which includes high-speed Internet and telephone. Still, $230 a month is brutal.
I'm glad to see this kind of technology come to the fore.
230 a month! Yikes!
Did you order everything they have, including all the pay channels?
I have the basic tier HD package from my cable provider and it's about $130 after all the taxes etc.. added in.
I will probably kill the HD service as almost everything I watch is online either in Hulu or Netflix, aside from all the pool stuff.
Another trick I used a few times, to lower your payments, is to look for a "new customer special" from another company, then go online to a service chat, if they offer it, and ask them what can they do to help lower payments because so and so company is giving you $100 for the same thing and you were thinking about switching. 95% of the time, they can switch you over to another price.
I lowered by bill by $50 a month by doing this. People say to not call up the company but use the online chat options because those online chat people are contractors often overseas who are less worried about the company making more money and are more worried about a customer leaving totally so they would be easier to talk to about a lower price. When I did that, I got 0 push back, they right away checked for a lower price for me, sent me a new agreement to my email, and the new prices started immediately. You may need to sign a 1 or 2 year contact but you could save a lot of money doing that.
Another thing I want to try is Magic Jack, I have read many good reviews about the service. Once my contract with the cable company is up, I will look into just basic cable service (for the kids) and internet from them, with Magic Jack for phone.
