Clash for Cash

If it goes to the hill it would be 149 games; $1,500 divided by 149 games is $10.07/game. Of course, it's not the same since someone's definitely going to walk away with $1,500, but that's definitely a lot of work for not so much money. Maybe they're counting on a lot of side-action?

Aaron
Wrong - if it goes to the hill, it will be one game for $1500. Doesn't matter what happened up until then.

How do you define "a lot of work for not much money" - this can be done in one day. I'd take $1500 for a day's worth of work.... That equates to ~$375k/yr in terms of working days...

Maybe the love to play pool and the money is just a bonus. Who knows.

When you have to win 75 games against a top player, that qualifies as a lot of work in my book, LOL. Also, the website says that the match will be spread out over 3 days, and unfortunately they would not be able to finish early if one player were running away with it, because they will stop play on the second day as soon as one player reaches the 50 mark. Maybe I've just been spoiled by the matches the TAR guys have provided us, but this match just seems too long for the stakes.

JMHO,

Aaron

I'm sure that's a big part of it. And if you're just sitting around bored anyway, why not play a marathon set for $1,500, right?

Look, I'm not trying to offend anyone, I actually go to great lengths avoid that on this forum; I'm just surprised that they are playing such a long race for those stakes... that's all. I think if I were setting this match up, I would either try to come up with a little more money, or shorten the set so that it could be comfortably completed in a day or less. Let's face it, $1500 just doesn't go very far these days, especially if you have to incur travel expenses to win it, which may not be the case here, I don't know.

As always, JMHO,

I wasn't offended at all. I understand exactly where you are coming from. It's all good :)

OOOhh...... Dunno if I would be woofing at those two if I were Ryan. I think he does well against a very talented group of players in his area, but I also think those crazy Canucks have been dominating over a bigger group of quality players.

Either way, it's be interesting.... :D

Wow!

That's like entering the 'Itarod' for a $500 prize and a Bear Barbeque....:D

I would have a line up of people wanting to play me $1500 for a race to 75... :)

That's a nice race but tell all the canadians that i'll play the winner and the loser a set of 10ball for !!!!!it don't matter they can pick the bet.

Ryan do you ever make it to the Truning Stone events?....I think they will both be there!

If you are playing John let me know, I have $500 on John.
If you are playing Erik let me know, I have $500 on Erik.
Perhaps you should just sell your house and come to Toronto for a week. I would be pleased to introduce you to more players you have never heard of.

For the record, Alex Pagulayan may or may not be considered Canadian. I don't care. But Toronto is where he honed his skills to get to the level he needed to compete as an open pro.

Players you may like to meet in Toronto:

Chris Orme
Christ Anglin
Jeff White
Jason Klatt
Ronnie Wiseman
Mario Morra
John Jorgensen
Robin Bass
Rob Hall

And I am sure for enough you could get some attention from others. Gerry Watson is only a short drive away and I am sure I can get you action on his personal Diamond table any time you like.

I am not a fan of woofing especially here, but come on, trying to mock Canadians isn't cool. Are you just pissy because Canada won 4-1 over the USA in the World Juniors or what?

Hey Poolsponge I think Ryan knows exactly who these guys are and how well they play. I just think Ryan likes to gamble.
