I paid $2,300 on this one and I have change feed screw on the tool post. Your is very clean and nice looking... I vote yes too..

Buy it! That looks super clean. It also looks like it has a variable frequency drive (VFD). If that is what it is in the picture, you have a really nice electronic variable speed control. It is also Baldor brand which is top notch.
It certainly looks like a nice lathe if the price isn't outrages, it's fast enough for working with wood efficiently and the spindle bore is large enough to allow a cue to go through. Great find. Also, as someone else has mentioned, it looks like it has a VFD which is a great addition.

That is a good price if it is rebuilt, like he says it is.
A new Chinese lathe of this size is about 3000 to 4000, without the VFD.
You are getting an American quality tool that has been presumably rebuilt quite well. And you are getting the VFD which will allow you to run from single phase 220, AND have variable speed.
As long as everything is like the guy says, you should buy the whole package.

4G's is no steal but based on the info you have given and the pictures I'd think it is worth at least that. You could use this lathe for sometime and should be able to recoup that much back out if you wanted too.
12 x 47....? Is the 47 the center distance or the length of the bed?
After looking at the pix again...It looks like it may only have around 27-30 inches between centers.

That's a little stiff for the VFD. If it's set up for a VFD then it already has a 3 PH motor installed. You need to find out if he is using 3 PH power or single phase and what H/P the motor is. Not all VFDs will convert single to 3 PH. Punch in VFD on e-bay and you'll discover a large number of VFDs for sale at greatly reduced prices being about 25% of what he is asking.

I have done the same, looking at used equipment.
My experience is that the used ones has a price which is pretty steep
compared to the equipments age. I know many who have bought "well known"
brands because the brand was "high quality" - and then spent a lot of time
dialing it in to get it up to work. Including new parts.
This lathe do look very "fresh" and clean, but as mentioned you could get a new
Chinese with DROs and all the bells and whistles for the same price.
I did go for a Chinese and I'm not regretting but then I have not seen any used
ones looking as clean as this

If you can get 30" between the chuck and the tailstock okay, 32" would be a lot nicer. Also. under 1,600 rpm is slow.

This is really bare bones for a used lathe. You are going to have to buy a lot of stuff, starting with a quick change tool post and six jaw chuck. The add doesn't even mention any tooling at all. Don't get emotional about it, you can live without that lathe. Make a low ball offer if you like. I can guarantee they will not be coming out of the wood work to buy the lathe. The lathe has already been listed for almost a month.

This is an excellent discussion about evaluating used lathes, written by a used machinery dealer who has been a great resource to home shop machinists.
If the owner had it professionally rebuilt, including re-grinding the ways, then it sounds like a good deal ... and the owner should be willing to tell you who rebuilt it (I'd ask). If the beast was simply repainted then I'd check it very carefully for wear.

Find out exactly what was done during the rebuild. If the bed was reground and scraped, I think the machine is head and shoulders better than MOST other used machines you will find.
