I don't think I would ever use a detergent and water to clean the cloth as in the youtube clip. You would end up with real pretty cloth that probably would wrinkle every time you put your hand down.
I used to use a mini vac with power brushes till I found myself wearing out cloth at a monstrous speed. It also seemed to grind the chalk dust and other dirt into the cloth instead of taking it out.
Chalk off is probably the best bet if the cloth is really dirty. The key is to not let the cloth get that dirty. Use a hand brush after each session and don't allow talc. If the player takes care of the shaft and hands are reasonably clean, talc should not be needed, and that eliminates a huge dirt factor.

This is the same problem I have. The vac works on the very top surface of the felt but I think it grinds alot into the under-layer/slate... I mean my bridge hand gets really filthy. Way more than when I go to the hall. I also think that the older and worn the felt, the more chalk tends to collect underneath.

Here's the cleaning routine we use here at Strokerz.
1st Brush lightly to remove surface dust and work loose dust imbedded in the cloth
2nd Vacum with a shop vac and inch brush attachment. The shop vac is strong enough to pull dust through the cloth that is on the slat bed ans the brush gets all the surface dust.
3rd use quick clean (or chalk off if you prefer) with the micro fiber squegee brush.
4th wipe rails with microfiber cloth to get excess quick clean
5th wipe down rail tops with damp cloth and wipe out pockets as well
6th Clean pool balls regularly, I use a home made polisher I made It works great made it for $20. Clean balls will extend the life of your cloth a great deal
Hope this helped
