Cloth snags

Glen (rkc) is going to stop by here while he's out galavantin around the country, and put on new 860hr... which should last me for the duration.

My current 860 has several little snags in the cloth which appear randomly at no special spots on the table.... total of maybe 20 of them that have appeared gradually over the last 5 years.

I don't want the new cloth to have snags if there's something I can do to prevent that but in order to prevent the snags I need to figure out how they got there and then STOP doing it.

Any ideas what might cause snags in the 860?

I have snags in my 860 and I am basically the only one who plays there. There have been no traumas.

I am also interested in this- but not for long!

Define what you mean by "snags", because the only snags I can think of when it comes to Simonis cloths is the little marks made by miscue's. The 860HR holds up to miscue marks very well, if that's what you're concerned about. It's a much stronger weave of cloth when compared to the normal 860 cloths, in fact you can feel the difference between 860 and 860HR just by running the palm of your hand over the playing surface. I can't really put it into words, but the 860 feels soft, and the 860HR feels hard.

On Fatboy's GC4 we had 860HR, and there were several miscue marks on the cloth, but not one mark put the little cut in the cloth which is normal with a bad miscue.

Watch your tips closely

if they have burrs on the edges or form them. Different tips may do this more or less. FWIW

The snags look like they could have been made by inserting a needle in the weave and pulling up and breaking off a couple strands of thread. Not that that's what happened but that's the best description I know how to give. I guess you'll be able to tell me more when you come.

Any update on when you expect to be this way? Thanks, Jim

Jim, ya' gotta' keep the damn cat off the table! ;)

RKC worked his magic on my table 2 months ago and I could not be happier...and I'm a picky SOB! You will not be disappointed. One suggestion---have some cheesecake on hand and cut big slices!
Seriously though, Glen's work is absolutely top notch.

Balls still going in the pockets on your Olhausen table correctly, or has the "Olhausen rattle" come back?;)
