Can a CNC machine is able to cut razor sharp points??
If so, please tell me the kind of tool/cutter needed and the cost for it.

OB has a patent pending way of doing it and I am sure there are other ways. I don't think someone who is capable will be giving their secrets away. If you do figure out a way. Please let the rest of us know!

A cnc mill can use a double-angle cutter to cut sharp v-groove points just like any other mill or lathe.
 
There are ultra sonic chisels and knives as well. Depends on the number versus the cost.
 
Yes you can. You either knife them in or you notch the end of your pocket and fill the notch with dyed epoxy.

Yes, Bill Stroud used to build them that way. The trick is how you build the points and miter them. You need to hand finish the pocket at the tip to accept the sharp point.

These kind of points do not fool anyone who knows what they are looking at. The veneerers have a distinct look to them that is different from a spliced cue you can spot from a mile away.

It is not a question of CNC capability, you just cut basically the same pocket. It is the know how in doing the finish work to get the desired effect of the point so it is sharp and looks to be spliced..

I am going to bet that you cannot tell if a cue even has points at a distance of a mile.

I might believe a few feet but no way a mile.

I agree, no without some serious optical assistance.

To go back to my original point though. If someone develops the technique to do the sharp CNC points they look very nice. A lot of people are turned off by the rounded points. Maybe Bill S. will come on and explain how he used to do them. It is not really some secret but maybe he has a trick or two he would share.

Talked to Bill and picked up a few pointers. Just have to have a sine table and good sander to match up angles for the veneers so that when glued to points they match the angles.
 
My last four 6 pointers were cut on a Cnc with a cheap grizzly v-groove cutter and there is no roundness in the points whatsoever. Yep it's possible but you have to do a bit of homework.

Why would they be round if you used a 90 deg. v-groove cutter?

Why would it be hard to cut with CNC and v-groove cutter?

The hard way to do it is with flat bottom inlay with end mills not a v-groove cutter. Let me know when you figure that one out.
