cog balance

I dont even know if they have weight bolts. You should get in touch with Joe Gold who is working with Bobby Hunter at this time. ( 775 ) 884-2837 This is the last number of Bob Hunter from the last Bluebook. If its no good I am sure others from here can help for number.

Yes they could have weight bolts.
A friend told me that could same as the capone's weight bolts.

I have to find where buy these.
Joe don't reply to my e-mail and call from Italy is hard(also because speak by phone in english it's very hard).

adding more forward balance..

you can always try to add more thickness to your shaft or ferrule. This would create a more forward balance cue.

have someone change the pin to brass or steel, but be sure you have the right pin first b/c i think he uses an oddball size.

I represented Cognoscenti Cues for five years. The cues are never made with any weight bolts. The cue weight comes from how he joins the wood together. The poster who mentioned changing the joint pin, is correct. You could do that...but why would you? The G-10 pin plays the best of any joint screw material, imo. Joey Gold doesn't respond to you, because he doesn't want any manipulation of his cues. He makes them his way...you can take it or leave it. I happen to think his cues play great...and I own a very nice one. I play with a custom Samsara, because I have represented them now, since 2000.

True, I love Cognoscenti cue: they are very beatyful and play great.
I have just buyed another one..

For my experience, I have some "problem" when I have to hit with cue inclined like 40 degree so I'd like try add a little weight to my cue to search resolve this issue.

I dont' want change G-10! Absolutly! I love this joint.

Only a thing... I think that a customer could make some request.
The seller could tell what he think to change or made modification to his work...
But don't reply, imo, isn't better way to customer service.

Joe gold doesn't take request. And still sells every cue he makes.

I think a new shaft made from some very dense shaft wood could help. All of my Cog shafts weight around 3.8 oz. I've seen shafts up to 5.0 oz. If you could get one about 4.5 oz. you could get a more forward balance without changing the cue too much.

I would call Bobby Hunter instead, he seems to be more available. I have a couple of Cogs, and a friend of mine called Bobby Hunter to ask him a couple of questions about them. They are working together, and even if Bobby makes the shaft, he is highly sought after, and his work is similar to Joe Gold's. A new shaft by Bobby Hunter certainly wouldn't detract from the value of the cue. I would also contact someone like Masonh, he may have some dense shaft wood, and his shafts play great. Whoever makes the shaft is going to need either the cue or at least one of the shafts.

> I don't know if Joe still offers it,but at one time he offered a Titanium version of the same pin he makes from G-10,so it would fit your old shafts, but it was a 100 dollar upcharge. Tommy D.

the Ti is pretty light too,but if he made them in Ti and charged $100 then he must not think G-10 is the only way to make a cue.

Ted had a good idea, get someone to make you a very heavy shaft.

Joe no longer makes Cognoscentis with the titanium screw...only the G-10 pin.

I've owned 3 Cogs. All had weight screws. Just unscrew the rubber bumper and insert the long end of a (5/32" I think) allen wrench and back out. From memory again: I think the weight screw thread size is 5/16" - 18.
