Collectability and playability...

I've been really curious about asking this question ever since Cornerstone asked what we wanted for $3000. Well, I would like to know, based equally on playability and collectability, reguardless of the price of the cue who would you prefer? For me, and this is based on what I have hit, it would be the following cues:

1.) Lambros
2.) Black Boar

Also, this is the order that I like them as well. I've hit other cues at shows like VF, but not enough to make an honest assestment in this post.

Dennis Searing/Barry Szamboti

Tie, my favorite cues relative to collectability and playability based on my experiences.

I have a first catalog BB from around '90 I believe. I love the way it plays. I have it put away and I do not play with it. I have been offered alot more than I payed for many times and it plays great. For thos personal reasons I will go with Black Boar.

My BB is from the "catalog cue" set and I absolutely love that cue! I think they are more collectable than you think. I am already considering buying one for my son... he is 15 months old!

And, yes, I play with the BB every time I get to the pool hall.

Almost forgot...

Oh yeah, for the record, I have a Coker sneaky-pete with both their shaft and a 314, with Talisman med. hard tips. This is my first custom cue that I have owned, and I absolutely love the hit for my skill level right now. I'm not the biggest Predator fan, but I really can't complain either. I have other cues being made by them (not sneaky petes...) so I can compare the differences in the hit.

Also, other players have tried my cue, and they really liked the hit as well. (3 8/10 wood-to-wood flat face will do it every time. ;) )They did have an issue with the weight (its between 19 & 19.5 oz.); however, I did forget to tell them that even though its a sneaky, it's going to feel lighter than it actually is because of the balance. All of them that tried the cue, like 20+ oz. cues. Thanks for replies and keep'em coming if you can.:D

** I have an Abe Rich sneaky pete that is about 25 years old and it ranks in the top 3 cues I have ever played with.**

Now this is interesting. Mabey I'll feel that way about my sneaky when I have a nice collection of cues later on down the line...who knows. Man, Dennis Searing stuff always seems to pop up when it comes to playability, as well as Barry's stuff too. (Which is good, because I want one if I can ever afford it...:p)

1. Barry
2. Dennis
3. Zylr

As far as playability/collectibility...

Honorable mention for playability alone: Nova and It's George cues

a pro player told me at the BCA show in Las Vegas last year that when it comes to playability it is in fact "The indian and not the arrow"

as far as collectability it's just like real estates' bigger fool theory

buy what "talks to you" and you will most likely be satisfied at both levels. As for me, I'm extremely satisfied with both my Lambros and my Judd Fuller.

Combining both is difficult, as some of the post clearly show, and is not relevant to finding a cue that feels good to you. Here are mine

1. Searing
2. Tascarella
3. Gina

All three make few cues, play extremely well and won't be making them forever. Honorable mention, Paul Mottey. When the pool hall takes off, he might decide to stop making cues. His quality and his hit is up there also. IMHO

Off course those are current makers, I don't know how much play time these would get but there is also;

1. Balabushka
2. Gus
4. Harvey Martin (For you billiard players mostly)
