Color of Money Film Locations

Chris's is a nice nostalgic place.....They advertise on their business card that the Hustler was filmed there too but it wasn't...........

The breakfast scene when they first hit the road was filmed at the Denny's restaurant in Highland Park on US 41. I went there a lot and didn't even know until about the 5th time I saw the movie and happened to look at the background and recognized the building across the highway.

i thought the com tournament scenes were filmed at resorts international in atlantic city? i have a 1985 resorts tournament poster stating that, iirc.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I figured the history forum wouldn't have a problem with old. The question I had is what scenes were the ones filmed at Chris's Billiards? Was it the ones the took place at the poolroom in the movie called "Chalkies" where Vince beats Moselle etc?

Chalkies & Chris's

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I figured the history forum wouldn't have a problem with old. The question I had is what scenes were the ones filmed at Chris's Billiards? Was it the ones the took place at the poolroom in the movie called "Chalkies" where Vince beats Moselle etc?

The primary scene filmed at Chris's Billiards is the one where Vince (Tom Cruise) plays Grady Seasons (Keith McCready) and proceeds to dump to him in preparation for AC.

The scenes at Chalkie's were filmed in a small pool room on the south side of Chicago. Specificially, the room was located at 63rd and Cottage Grove. That room was owned by Robert Agins (who happenned to play Big Earl in the movie - runs the numbers, doesn't mind losing...).

While in college my friend and I spent alot of our free time in that room learning to play. Many of the extras in the Chalkie's scenes were room regulars. That is also where I saw Bugs Rucker play on a few occasions.

The only sign that a big time movie was ever filmed in that room was a simple Color of money movie poster along with a brand new Gold Crown in the front of the room. I'm not sure if that room is still there, I suspect not.
