Who would you want to see if you could put ANY player in there prime, past or present, in a race to 120.

Right now Id pick Corey and Alex.

Was thinking of the same combination actually.

Or Fransico Bustamante and Mike Sigel. I think that would be cool too.

Lassiter in his absolute prime vs. Bustamante right now.

I choose Bustamante because I think his accuracy and cue ball control are impeccable, and his game is representative of the current "state of the art" in 9-ball, but yet I haven't heard him called "the best".

The reason I'd like to see this match-up, is that I have a gut feeling (I'm too young to have real knowledge of this) that today's game is the best it's ever been, and that to say otherwise is to let your nostalgia overcome your pool judgment. So I'd like to see a player who plays today's game, and plays it well but not the best in the world, match up with the man revered as the best of the old school nine-ballers, if not the best nine-ball player ever. To compare the game, not so much the players.

Keith McReady and Ronnie Allen, for the sheer entertainment value. Keith would certainly be the favorite, but Ronnie would pull out every shark move in his vast repertoire and might steal some games. Matter of fact, if someone put that game together now, I would cough up as much PPV $ as it took to watch them go at it. Wonder what the bar tab would be for those two in a race to 120?

Andrew took half of my combo...

Lassiter vs. Strickland or Archer or Reyes.

Lassiter is considered the greatest 9-Ball player of his era, it's hard for me to choose the current era player to play him.

If you take into account all the players in their prime, any of these would be one helluva match up.

ooohh thats a good one. I would love to see this match up also.

for the quality of pool purposes im going to say...
1. women - jean balukas vs. alison fisher
2. men - parica vs. bustamante or pagyulan

for entertainment purposes...
1. tony chohan vs. keith mccready

Yeah for women...

I honestly would enjoy seeing Karen and Fisher battle it out. Id like to see what one would really be able to pull it off for HIGH money and long hours of play.

The Color Of Money was a race to 120 over three days.

How about they make it a one day event between Tony Drago and Luc Salvas. Maybe Rodney Morris can make a cameo ;)

karen and allison play all the time.. im sick of watching them play! balukas would have tortured both of them in her time! given them the 7 and they would have hated life!

reyes vs. louie roberts ... the shotmaking is a given, but both these guys could kick safe like they were shooting straight at a ball... hands down best two ever

If we could have anyone, past or present -- in their prime, I'd like to see Greenleaf play straight pool. Actually, I'd also like to see Ronnie Allen in his prime play Efren some one pocket.

If you are talking about 9-Ball players in their prime, you have to like Earl over anyone, in spite of what happened in the Philipines with Effie.

My favorite 9-Ball match though would be Lassiter vs. Sigel, two guys who most hated to lose a match. That would have been a real death match.

And in One Pocket, someone already said it, Ronnie in his prime vs. Efren.
How about a Race To Fifty. Ronnie had legs and a nose for the goal line. Would have been interesting. Maybe someone can simulate these matches on a computer.

9 Ball- Lassiter vs Strickland
14.1- Greenleaf vs Mosconi
Banks-Eddie Taylor vs Bugs Rucker
1 Pocket- Efren Reyes vs Ronnie Allen

Wouldn't it be great if all of our dream matches really could have happened? Oh man...

I would definately want to see Ronnie Allen in his prime vs Efren at 1pocket, and I'm not even a one pocket player.
