Sets….best 3 out of 5….Race to 2 each set

Lag for who breaks first set....then alternate

Alternate breaker for each set
Alternate racker for each set
Do this till match ends

Use Magic Rack

Final Match race to eleven, winner of winners side of dbl elimination flow chart breaks first and like tennis only once & opponent racks, next....opponent breaks twice then alternate with each player breaking twice till match ends….must win by 2 games or first to 15.

Finals could be played on two tables, side by side. Have racker rack the second table immediately after first tables rack is completed to speed up breaking of second rack of breakers turn at the table.

24 second shot clock, one 24 second extension allowed per rack
Bathroom break, one per match, Not allowed during opponents inning at table, exceptions….see TD

I’m sure other small details will come up, but this could also be done in a Single Elimination format, best 3 Sets out of 5, races to 3, total number of possible games played in this situation could be 17, and would probably take less time overall than the other dbl elim format.

Now that is a Turkey shoot. It is a good idea. I love the shot clock and bathroom break ideas. Will surely be a hindrance on those playing better through modern chemistry though. 20 years ago I would have said,"no way Jose"! LOL!!

Some of us need weight from those chemists...I'll take everything I can get.

If the players continue to master the break which is 100% likely if the magic rack grows in use there will have to be some format developed to equalize the field... No one likes alternating breaks so to have mini sets where each player breaks for the whole set might have merit...

I think best of 5 would be better for a set and best of 5 as well for the match.... Only bad side is I like to see big numbers and this will limit everyone to 3 pack maximums...... Match times would likely increase.....

lol you're really pushing for this

In professional tennis they DON'T play double eimination, in the NCAA college basketball tournament in March, they too don't play dbl elimination, they put there players and their teams in a due or die situation, with alloted time outs betweem quarters in BB and between sets in Tennis, and most always the Best rise to the top, yeah its single elimination, tho with predictable TV time outs and the alike, it ain't broke and it doesn't need Fixin'.
In tennis in the Majors they play 3 out of five sets, in the lesser tiered events they play best 2 out of three. The US Open should be best three out of five and the World Championships should do the same, and other comparable events should also be considered.

Randy G and John McChessney pushed Texas Express over thirty yrs ago and it worked Great, it came and went, times now have changed.
To effectively do something for the pros, the Sport, the Public and the Production of TV shows, change is needed. This format could work and create across the board interest in our game.
Tennis has proven that set, match, point, and tiebreakers do work, and people will watch it for an extended length of time because of its excitement and its ability for another player to come back from being two sets down and winning, that's my thinking.
I truly want our players to have a rich life in many way$, with all that goes with being a great athlete and player like Federer/Nadal/Connors/Billie Jean King/Agassie/Steffie Graf and on an on, they deserve it. I hate to see Great Players not getting their due.
Why not try and give them and the game something needed? Parents do it to their kids and grandchildren every minute of every day, our sport needs to think outside the box and do the same, this is just another idea, that could have merit, because change has come and is still coming.
